. <br />~ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 80- 51 <br />PAGE 3. <br />165.04 DUTTES OF LANDMARKS COMMISSION. <br />In addition to requirements specified elsewhere in Chapter <br />165, the Landmarks Commission shall have the following responsibilities <br />and duties: <br />(a) The Commission shall conduct a continuing survey <br />of all sites, buildings, structures, works of art, <br />or similar objects, in the City of North Olmsted <br />that are culturally, socially, economically, politically, <br />architecturally, educationally, or historically significant. <br />(b) The Commission shall work for the continuing education <br />of the citizens of North Olmsted with respect to historical <br />and architectural heritage of the city and the landmarks <br />designated under the provisions of this chapter. It shall <br />publish and keep current a register of all landmarks. <br />(c) The Commission shall be authorized by Council, to accept <br />the services on a permanent or part-time basis, of <br />technical experts or such other persons that may be <br />required from time to time. <br />(d) The Commission shall maintain an archives for city records <br />and other historical documents. <br />165.05 DESIGNATION OF LANDMARKS. <br />(a) In considering the designation of any si e, building, <br />district, structure, work of art or significant object as a landmark <br />the Commission shall apply the following criteria: <br />(1) If it typifies a significant example of the <br />cultural, economic, social, .environmental, <br />architectural, or heritage of the City of <br />North.. Olmsted, or; <br />(,2) If it is identified with a historical event <br />or person who contriUuted to the cultural <br />and growth of the City of North. Olmsted. <br />(b) The Commission shall designate official landmarks using <br />the following procedure: <br />(1) A nomination for landmark designation may be made <br />by the commission members the owner, or any <br />resident of the City of North Olmsted. The nomina- <br />tion shall include a photograph, rationale and <br />historical data. <br />(2) The Commission shall accept the nomination and <br />vote to accept or reject the nomination for study <br />and evaluation. <br />(3) The chairman shall appoint member(s) to prepare <br />a documented report on the nominated site includ- <br />ing a history, property description, site map, <br />photograph(s) and eventual placement of the plaque. <br />(4) The complete report shall be presented to the <br />Commission. <br />(5) The Commission shall advise the City Planning <br />Commission of the nomination and request a written <br />statement concerning its recommendation as it <br />relates to the Comprehensive Plan of North. Olmsted. <br />
