Furthermore, all sworn Police Officers, except the Chief of Police, shall receive additional four (4) hours straight time pay if required to work eight (8) hours or more on Thanksgiving and Christmas or receive compensating time off if approved by Chief of Police. I. That all full-time employees of the Police Department shall be en- titled to an annual vacation in accordance with the City of North Olmsted Vacation Ordinance. J. That for purposes of this Ordinance a work day is defined as a continuous eight (8) hour period and a work week is defined as forty (40) hours. K. That effective January 1, 1977, all full-time sworn employees with the exception of the Chief, the City of North Olmsted shall pay employees time and a half (12) their regular rate of pay for all hours required to be worked in excess of the work day or week as defined in Paragraph J hereof. However, no employee shall be paid at an overtime rate for time spent while pursuing educational endeavors, mandatory schooling required by law or internal programs instituted by the Chief of Police relating to changes in Revised Code or the Ohio Uniform Rules of Criminal Procedure. It shall, however, be appropriate to pay the overtime rate to employees who participate in specialty programs requiring training at times other than the employees' regular tour of duty and further that said programs have been designated by the Chief of Police as one for which the overtime rate will be paid. L. Any employee who qualifies for overtime by virtue of the provisions of Paragraphs J and K hereof shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours when required to report for extra duty over and above his regular work day and work week. Said employee shall also be paid a minimum of two (2) hours for appearances at the Rocky River Municipal Court and a minimum of four (4) hours for appearances before the Grand Jury or Common Pleas Court when the same is required and is at a time other than the employee's regular work tour. The compensation for the aforesaid hours of credit will be at a rate of time and one half (12) of the employee's regular rate of pay. M. Any time a patrolman is required to temporarily take charge of a shift command, said patrolman shall be paid a premium of one additional hour at a straight time rate for each day he is required to do so. N. In the event that a full-time sworn employee of the Police Depart- ment of the City of North Olmsted should be injured while in the line of duty due to a sudden and accidental occurence and such injury has so in- capacitated said member of the Police Department that he is temporarily unable to work, then the Director of Public Safety, after determining that said injury is work related and is of a temporary nature, may authorize full payment of the employee's regular salary for a period of not more than ninety days. If, after said ninety day period, said employee is still tem- porarily incapacitated, then the Director of Public Safety shall recommend to Council whether or not to continue said salary. Council shall forthwith review the matter and by majority vote dtermine whether the employee shall continue to receive his full salary during recuperation. For the purposes of this Paragraph, a sudden and accidental injury shall include such incidents as an automobile accident, assault and battery, gun shot wound and the like. It shall not be considered as sudden and ac- cidental if injury or incapacity results from the lifting of objects, slip- ping, tripping or falling, heart failure or heart attack. Any full time sworn employee of the Department who qualifies for benefits under Paragraph N hereof shall be required to pay over to the City any amounts received from the Bureau of Workmen's Compensation as supple- mental wages. Further, if at any time the City determines, on the basis of medical evidence, that an employee is permanently disabled and will no
