po(ifical subdivision will transfer said sick leave and shalf use the transferred sick leave prior to <br />sick leave accumulated while employed with the City of North O(msted. <br />Sick leave carry-over from another pofitical subdivision shall not be used to cafculate an <br />employees buy-ouf pursuant to Section 1(e) above. <br />ARTICLE 16 - GENERAL,LEA1lE PRQVISfONS <br />Section '!. All leaves of absence when known in advance (and any extensions fhereof) must be <br />applied for and granfied in writing on forms provided by the City (copy to the empiayee). An <br />employee and the Union will be notified within three (3) working days from the date the <br />application was made of approval or denial of the request (eave. <br />Sectian Z. An employee shall accumulate seniority during any leave of absence, buf he shall <br />not be entitled to any benefiits, except that the City shail confinue to pay its portion of the <br />employee's haspitafization insurance in Arficle 25 for a three (3) monfh period. After fhe three <br />(3) monfh period, an empfoyee must direct pay any required hospital/surgical premiums to the <br />City on or before the monthly due date. <br />Section 3. Whert an employee returns to work after a leave of absence, he wilG be assigned to <br />the position which he farmerly occupied at the than current rate of pay (or to a similar position if <br />his former position no longer exists) if he is medically quafified and capabie of performing the job requirement as determined by fhe City. fn fhe event the City questions whether the <br />empioyee is medicaliy qualified to do the work the City shal( have fhe employee medically <br />examined and pay fior such examination. <br />Sectian 4. Na more fihan one (1) member of any Wastewater Treatment shift crew may be <br />absent on schooi leave or for certification fesfs at any time. Seniority will govern. The second man wilf <br />make special arrangements suifable to the superintendent. <br />Sectian s. If it is found that a leave of absence is not acfualiy being used for the purpose for which it <br />was granted, the City shall cancel the leave and it may impose discip(inary action up ta and including <br />discharge. <br />17
