The City and the Union recognize fhat each pariy must comp(y with the applicable <br />state and r'ederal laws wifh respect to safety and healfh. The City shalf continue fo make rsasonable <br />provisions for the safety and healfh of ifs employees. <br />A. Required persanal protecfive ea,uipment shall be issued ta regufar fufl-time employees and shali <br />be replaced if the equipment is worn aut and is returned to the City for repfacement. <br />An employee who does not return the equipmenf will be charged for the replacement cost, except <br />in cases, <br />(1) In which the equipment was destroyed by accidenfal condifions beyond the empioyee's <br />control in the work area, or; <br />(2) ff the equipment, nas been stolen and the City has fai(ed to supply the empioyee with a <br />26
