ARTfCLE 6 IJNION REPRESENTATi ION <br />Section 't. Empioyees selected by the Union to act as Union representafives for the purpase of <br />processing grievances under the Grievance Procedure shall be known as Stewards. The City <br />will recognize a Chief Steward, and it wiil recognize one steward and one alternate fram each of <br />the fiollowing: (1) Wastewater Department; (2) Mechanics; (3) Service Department; (4) <br />Wastewater Department - Systems. The steward shall represent employees on ail three (3) <br />shifts. The aiternate stevvard shall be recognized when the regular steward is absent or <br />otherwise not available. <br />Section 2. Empfoyees who parficipate in meetings under Step 1 of the Grievance Procedure, <br />during fheir scheduied working time, or other rneetings scheduled by the City under the <br />Gr.ievance Procedure, during their scheduled working fime, wifi be paid for fime actuaily lost from <br />their scheduled wark time for the purpose of participafing in such meetings. The investigation <br />and processing of grievances by Union representatives during working time shall be Iimited to <br />the last fifteen minutes of a shift. <br />Sectian 3. The Local Union Grievance Committee shall consist ofi the President, Secretary, fhe <br />Chief Steward and/or the Vice President and/or the Steward from the department involved, but <br />not more than four (4) persons. <br />Section 4. When there is a redirection in force, the r'oilowing Union officia!s shall he retained in <br />preference to all employees, provided they can perform the available work President, Vice <br />Prasident, Secretary, Treasurer, Chief Steward, SteVVaCdS 2nd P,lternafe S`31,ewarus, anu trree (3) <br />members of the Union Executive Board. <br />Section 5. In case of a suspensian or discharge or a formalized discipfinary meeting tF?e <br />employee shall have the right ta have his Steward presenf and, upon request, wi(I be <br />permitted to discuss his suspension or discharge wifh fhe Steward in an area made <br />avaifabfe by the City before he is required ta leave the premises.
