Section 6. The Gity shall endeavor, insofar as it may be practicable, to make a genera{ly <br />equitable distribution of overtime work among empioyees within a classification and department <br />who are capable of performing the availabie work satisfactorily. Employees who are offered <br />overtirne, and for any reason refuse ar fail to work, shall be credited with the overtirne as if they <br />had worked, for the purpose of oveftime distribution. (n the event that a sufficient number of <br />employees are not available within the classifications for the overtime assignment, qualified <br />employees from a different classificafion and/or department shall be offered the overtime work <br />and the overtime opportunity shall be distributed as equitably as passible. Seasonal or paft-time <br />employees shall not work until afl available full-time employees in that Department are offered <br />to work the available overtime. <br />Section 7. For the purpose of Section 6 above, it shall not be deemed practicable to <br />distribute an overtime opportunity in strict accordance with the overtime lists where: (1) the <br />City, in good faith, esfiimates that the opportunity consists of no more than one (1) hour of <br />overtime work per man required, or (2) the opportunity arises during an emergency. <br />Section 8. f n distributing oveftime opportunities, the City or its representatives shall not <br />engage in a policy favoring an empiayee or employees, unless this Agreement requires certain <br />employees to work fihe oveftime. <br />ARTICLE 11 - LEAVE OF ABSENCE <br />Section 1. Militarv Leave; An employee shall be granted a leave of absence for military <br />duty under the terms and conditions provided in appficable, stafe and federal (aws. <br />Section 2. Unpaid Sick Leave: A regular full-fime employee who has compieted his <br />probationary period and who has exhausted his paid sick leave shall be granted a leave of <br />absence without pay for a period not to exceed six (6) months for a continuing disabi(ity which <br />is substanfiated by credible medical evidence. (f the illness or disabifity continues beyond six (6) <br />months, additional sick leave may be granted by the Gity upon request. The employee shall be <br />16
