Specifcations <br />6. Topcoat Paint - Two (2) coats of an autolnotive grade; two (?) component acrvlic urethane <br />paint, shall also be applied. ? <br />All removable items such as brackets, compartment doors, door hinaes; trim, etc. shall be <br />removed and painted separately to insure painf behind all mounted items. Body assemblies <br />that can not be finish painted after assembly shall be finish painted before assemblv. <br />The cab and the body shall be painted match NOFD #268. <br />Pnor to reassembly and reinstallation of Iights, handrails, door hardware and an}- <br />miscellaneous items an isolation tape, gasket or dielectric material sha1l be used to prevent <br />damage to the finish painted surfaces (no exceptions). A nylon washer shall be installed <br />under each acorn nut ar metal screw, that is fastened directly to an exterior painted surface. <br />P qINT - ENVIRONIVIENTAL, IMP ACT <br />The contractor shal] meet or exceed his cui-rent State regulations concerning paint operations. <br />Pollution control shall inclucie measures to protect the atmosphere, water and soi1. Controls <br />shall include the following conditions: <br />- Topcoats and primers shall be chrome and lead free. <br />- Metal treatment chemicals shall be chron7e free. The wastewater generated in the metal <br />treatment process shall be treated on-site to remove any other heavy metals. <br />- Particulate emission collection from sanding operations shall have a 99.99° o efficiencN <br />factor. ? <br />- Particulate emissions from painting operations sliall be collected by a dry filter or water <br />wash process. If the dry filter means is used, it shall have an eff cienev rating of 98.00%. <br />Vi'ater wash systems shall be 99.9?% efncient. -Water from water wash booths shall be reused. Solids sha11 be removed nlechanicallv on a <br />continual basis to keep the water clean. ? <br />- Pauzt wastes shall be disposed of in an environinentally safe mam7er. <br />- En7pty metal paint containers shall be erushed and recycled to recover the metal. <br />- Solvents used in cleanup operations shall be collected, sent off-site for distillation and <br />returned for reuse. Residue from the distillation operation shall be used as fuel in off-site <br />kilns. <br />Additionallv; t11e finished apparatus shall not be manufactured with or eontain products that <br />have ozone depleting substances.
