conditions permit, having in mind the volume of work. <br />ARTICLE 15 - PAJD SICK LEAVE <br />Section 1. A fuli-time employee wha has completed his probationary period shall be granted sick <br />leave for personai iilness or injury as foilows: <br />(a) Paid sick leave shall be eamed and accumulated at the rate of one and one fourth <br />(1 1/4) days for each month; - <br />(b) Pay for sick leave shail be at the employee's straight time hourly rate (or portion <br />thereof if absent for less than a fuii day); <br />O If an employee is absent on sick leave for more than three (3) consecutive work days, <br />the City shafl require the employee to present medical evidence that the employee <br />was under a doctor's care and is able to return to work. The City will review the <br />attendance recocds of employees periodically and at least once in each three (3) <br />month period. If the City believes that an employee is developing an attendance <br />problem, the City will notify #he employee in writing that medical evidence will be <br />required for absences of three (3) days or less. When an employee's record <br />becomes satisfactory, the requirement far such medicaf evidence for short term <br />absences wi11 be removed, and the employee will be notified in writing. <br />(d) Employees may use up to fifteen (15) work days per year of earned and accumulated <br />sick leave if necessitated by iiiness in the employee's immediate family. For purposes <br />of this subsection, °immediate family" shall be interpreted to be spouse, children, <br />parents of the employee, regardless of the place of residence; and other relatives <br />living within the household of the employee. <br />(e) When an employee with five (5) or more years of service retires having received <br />P.E.R.S. pension, dies, or takes disability retirement and has accumulated sick leave <br />time, the retiring employee may convert one-half ('/z) of the accumulated sick leave <br />time (with the City of North Oimsted) to pay on the basis of his rate of pay at the time <br />o# retirement, but the maximum amount paid shall not exceed Nine hundred and sixty <br />(960) hours. <br />(fl An employee should make an effort to schedule medical and dental appointments for <br />himself and his family members during non-working hours. <br />Section .
