ARTICLE 21 - VACATIONS <br />? <br />1?w Section 1. Regular full-time employees hired prior to July 1, 1995 shail be granted vacation leave <br />with #u!i pay as provided below. However, vacation carry-over is limited as set forth in Section 2 <br />below. Pay in lieu of vacation is limited to conditions as set forth. <br />One through four years - 2 calendar weeks <br />Five through nine years - 3 calendar weeks <br />Ten through fourteen years - 4 calendar weeks <br />Fifteen through twenty years - 5 calendar weeks <br />Twenty-one years through infinity - 6 calendar weeks <br />Section 2. An employee shall become eligible for vacation leave on his anniversary date and <br />vacation leave shaN be taken by the empioyee within twelve (12) months ttiereaftar. However, so <br />iong as an employee uses at least five (5) uninterrupted days of vacation each year, the employee <br />shail be permitted with prior approval to carry over or to se(i back any amount of vacation which does <br />not exceed the amount eamed in the prior year. <br />VAW <br />Sectian 3. if an empioyee is terminated (voluntarily or invoiuntarily) prior to taking his vacation <br />and has completed one (1) year of employment with the City, he shall receive the prorated portion <br />of any accrued but unused vacation at the time of separation. In case of death of an employee, the <br />unused vacation leave shail be paid to the estate. <br />(a) If a day recognized as a holiday by the terms af this Agreement falls within an <br />employee's vacation ieave, the employee sha(t not be credited with a vacation day, <br />and wi{I be paid for the holiday at the straight time rate. <br />(b) An employee may have the option of using persona( days as days af extended <br />vacation with prior approval of his depa?tment head. <br />(c ) An employee may have the option af using all but one week of his vacation in <br />increments of less than one week; for example, one or two days at a time. An <br />employee will give the supervisor at least forty-eight (48) hours advance notice in <br />writing. In an emergency situation verba( communication with the supervisor is <br />appropriate and may justify waiving advance not+#ication. <br />Section 4.
