sta#e and federal laws with respect to safety and health. The City shali continue to make reasonable <br />provisions for the safety and health of its employees. <br />? <br />? A. Required personal protective equipment shail be issued to regular full-time empfoyees and <br />shall be repiaced if the equipment is worn out and is returned to the City for repiacement. <br />An employee who does not return the equipment will be charged for the replacement cost, except <br />in cases, <br />(1) 1n which the equipment was destroyed by accidental conditions beyond the <br />employee's control in the work area, or <br />(2) If the equipment has been stolen and the City has failed to supply the employee with <br />a place to lock up his equipment. <br />B. A safety committes consisting of two (2) representatives from management and twa (2) <br />safiety representatives appointed by the local union may confer as necessary for the purpose <br />of attempting to maintain safe working conditions. <br />Section 2. In the event an employee reasonably believes that a situation is unsafe, the employee <br />shall notify his supenrisor immedia#ely, the supervisor shall investigate the situation on the same day <br />or as soon as possible thereafter, and take such steps as are necessary to remedy the unsafe <br />condition. <br />tn the event the employee has notified his supervisor of the unsafe condition, the employee <br />shall not be required to perform the work untii it has been determined to be safe. However, the <br />employee may be assigned #o alternative duties until such time as an investigation is completed. <br />Section 3. The C+ty will provide and maintain safe vehicles for all employees required to use <br />vehicles for their assigned duties. The vehicle status, whether safe or unsafe, will be determined <br />by the Service Director or his designee. <br />Sec#ion 4. Employees shall be required to keep the interior of vehicles clean and clear of objects <br />such as: tools, lunch wrappers, cans, and bottles.
