Section 2. Seniority shall mean an employee's uninterrupted (ength of confinuous service <br />with the City measured from his last hirin9 date as a regular part-time/full-fime employee. An <br />empioyee shall have na seniority for #he probatianary periotl provided in article 8, Section 1, but <br />upon compietion of the probationary periad, seniority shall be retroactive to the date of hire. <br />Seniority wiii be accrued for regular part-time employees on actuai hours worked. <br />Sectian 3. The City shall provide the Union with a copy of the seniority lists and these lists <br />sha11 be updated every six (6) months. The seniority lists sha!l be made up by classifications and <br />shall contain in order of date of hire, the name, department, date of hire and classification seniority <br />date of each employee. Seniority lists shall be posted on each Union Bulletin Board. <br />Section 4. Continuous service and seniority shaii be broken when an employee: <br />(a) Quits or resigns; <br />(b) ls discharged for just cause; <br />(c) Is laid off for a period equal to the amount of seniority held at <br />the time the lay-off comrnences, or forty-eight (48) consecutive <br />months, whichever is less; <br />(d) Faiis to repart to work within seven (7) calendar days when <br />recalled from lay-off by certified mail addressed to the employee's <br />last knawn address as shown on the City's records, uniess the employee is unabie <br />to work due to medically proven disability; <br />(e) Is absent without report for three (3) consecutive work days, unless the employee <br />has a reasonable excuse far failing to <br />report the absence. <br />.Section 5. The City shali advise the Union in writing of additions to or deletions from the <br />seniority list at the end of eacfi pay period when the action took place.
