The City will post a notice for said shifts five (5) working days prior to any shift is to begin. <br />The notice shall state the date and time the shift wiii begin and the expected duration. <br />This does not preclude employees from requesting staggering or irregufar shifts which <br />would accomplish the nesds of the City, as long as the Department Supervisor approves said <br />changes. <br />Section 2. The City may not reduce the weekly schedule of work for any department or <br />empioyee below forty (40) hours without agreemeRt with the Union. This shall not prevent <br />reduction or cancellation of scheduled hours or work on a temporary basis if an emergency occurs <br />which is beyond the control of the Ciiy. <br />Section 3. Employees shall be allowed no# less than sixty (60) uninterrupted minutes for <br />a scheduled lunch period daily except for other schedu(es mutuaily agreed upon with the Union. <br />The lunch period shall count as time worked for all purposes, including computation of overtime. <br />Section 4. Employees will be paid time and one-half (1 1/2) of their straight time rate of pay <br />for hours worked in excess of eight (8) in any one work day and time and one half (1 1/2) of their <br />straight time rate of pay for hours worked in excess of forty (40) hours in any one work week. In <br />the interest of Health and Safety, management may send an employee (Recreation Department <br />Maintenance Only) home befiore he completes his regular scheduled shift when the employee has <br />worked the. maximum consecutive emergency overtime hours. Such reguiarly scheduled shift <br />hours not worked shalt be credi#ed toward the forty (40) hour work week requirement for any <br />subsequent overtime worked. A work day is a twenty-four (24) hour period commencing at the <br />start of the employee's scheduled shift. Hours worked on a day designated as a holiday in Article <br />16 shall be paid at two times (ZX) the employes's straight time rate of pay for hours worked in <br />addition to regular holiday pay in accordance with Articie 16.
