One through four years - 2 calendar weeks <br />Five through nine years - 3 calendar weeks <br />Ten thraugh fourteen years - 4 calendar wesks <br />Fifteen thraugh twenty years - 5 calendar weeks <br />Twenty-one years through infinity - 6 caiendar weeks <br />Section 2. An employee shail become eligible for vacation leave on his anniversary date <br />and vacation leave sna!l be taken by the employee within tweive (12) months thereafter. However, <br />so long as an employee uses at least five (5) uninterrupted days of vacation each year, the <br />employee shail be permitted with prior approval to carry over or to sefl back any amount of <br />vacation which does not exceed the amount eamed in the prior year. <br />Section 3, lf an employee is terminated (voluntarily or involuntarily) prior to taking his <br />vacation and has compfeted one (1) year of employment with the Ciiy, he shali receive the <br />prorated portion of any accrued but unused vacation at the time of separation. In case of death <br />of an employee, the unused vacation leave shall be paid to the estate. <br />(a) if a day recognized as a holiday by the terms of this Agreement fails within an <br />employes's vacation leave, the employee shafl not be credited with a vacation day, <br />and wi(I be paid for the haliday at the straight time rate. <br />(b) An employee may have the option of using personal days as days o# ex#ended <br />vacation with prior approvai of his department head. <br />(c) An employee may have the option of using aA but one weeK of his vacation in <br />increments of less than ane week; for example, one or fin?a days at a time. An <br />. employee will give the supervisor at least forty-eight (48) hours' advance notice in <br />writing. In an emergency situation verbal communication with the supervisor is <br />appropria#e and may justify waiving advance notification. <br />Section 4. Regular fulf-time employees hired after July 1, 1995 shall be granted vacation <br />at a rate of pay equal to that of their current base rate of pay.
