shall with the City of North Oimsted receive his regular rate of pay from the City. <br />ARTICLE 21 - SAFETY AND FiEALTH <br />Section 1. The City and the Union recognize that each party must comply with the <br />applicable state and federai laws with respect to safety and health. The City shail continue to <br />make reasonable provisions for the safety and heaith ofi its employees. (Recreation <br />Department and Maintenance Personnel Oniy) . <br />A. Required personal protective equipment shali be issued to regular full-time <br />employees and shail be replaced if the equipment is wom out and is retumed to the <br />City for replacement cost, except in cases <br />(1) In which the equipment was destroyed by accidental conditions beyond the <br />employee's control in the work <br />area, or <br />? (2) Ifi the equipment has been stolen and the C+ty has failed to suppiy the <br />, employee with a placs to lock up <br />his equipment. <br />B. A Safety Committes consisting of finro (2) representatives from management and <br />two (2) safety representatives appointed by the {ocal union may confer as <br />necessary for the purpose of attempting to maintain safe working conditions. <br />Section 2. In the event an employee reasanably believes that a situation is unsafe, the <br />employee shall notify his supervisor immediately. The supervisor shall investigate the situation on <br />the same day or as soon as possible thereaf#er, and take such steps as are necessary to remedy <br />the unsafe condition. <br />In the event the employee has notified his supervisor of the unsafe condition, the <br />employee shall not be required to perform the work until it has been determined to be safe. <br />However, the employee may be assigned to altemative duties until such time as an investigation <br />is completed. <br />: ems:opeiu11794af1-ci0 -31- <br />?
