Employees shall be aubject to all of the teras and <br />conditions of the group health plan. <br />ARTICLB 22: <br />INJtTRY LSA'y8 <br />SECTION 1: In the event that a full-time emplayee of the <br />North Olmsted Police Depaztment should be injured while ia tthe <br />line of duty due to a suddea and accidental occurrence, and auch <br />injury has so incapacitated said member of the Police Departmeat <br />O that he is temporarily unable to work, then the Director ot <br />C Public Safety, after determininq that said iniury is work-related <br />and is of a temporary nature, may authorize nfnety (90) da)rs sick <br />leave. If after such ninety (90) days sick leave period said <br />employee is still temgorari.ly incapacitated, then the Director of <br />Public Safety shall recommend to Council whether or not to <br />continue said salary. Council shall forthwith review the matter <br />and, by majority vote, determine whether the employee shall <br />continue to receive his full salary during recuperation. <br />For the purpose of this paragraph, a sudden and accidental <br />injury shall include such incidents as an automobile accident, <br />assault, gun shot wound and the like. It may not be considered as <br />sudden and accidentaZ if an injury or incapacitation results from <br />Iifting, slipping, tripping or falling. <br />SECTION 2:_ Any full-ti.me employee of this bargaining unit who <br />qualifies for benefits under this Article shall be requfred to <br />pay over to the city any amount received from the Bureau of <br />Workers Compensation as suppZemental wages. <br />Further, if at any time the City determines, on the basis of <br />medical evidence, that the employee is permanently disabled and <br />wi11 no longer be able to carry on his duties, then the City may <br />terminate payments and insist that the employee go on a pension <br />program. <br />?.'
