ARTICLE 27 <br />PENSION <br />The Employer shall make payments to the Public Employees Retirement System in accordance <br />with the law. <br />ARTICLE 28 <br />LIFE INSURANCE <br />Section 28.01 After one (1) month of continuous service with the Employer fult-time <br />employees of the transit department shail be covered by a twenty thousand dollar ($20,000.) <br />group term life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance policy at the employers <br />expense for the duration of this contract. <br />Section 28.02 To the extent permitted by the insurance provider's cvles, full-time employees <br />may purchase additional life insurance; which shall be deducted from an employee paycheck. <br />Section 28.03 To the extent permitted by the insurance provider's rules, a full-time employee <br />who leaves his job shall be allowed to convert his group term life policy to an individual policy, <br />at his own expense. <br />ARTICLE 29 <br />HOSTLER-DRIVER <br />Section 29.01 In 1993, public transit services operated by NOMBL under contract with the <br />Greater Cleveland RTA were reduced approximately 12%. In order to maintain full-time positions <br />which, absent this agreement, wouid be abolished because of the reductions, the NOTEA and the <br />City agreed to establish the position of Hostler-Driver. This position shall be offered to the senior- <br />most employee in a lay-off status. Any such position(s) shall be temporary. <br />Section 29.02 This position shall require a combination of Hostler and Bus Operator work <br />assignments. The current job descriptions of Hostter and Bus Operator shall represent the <br />responsibilities these individuals have while they are working the respective positions' hours. <br />Section 29.03 An employee working in this position wiil receive two rates of pay: Operator and <br />Hostler, based upon their respective rate step number. Hours worked as an Operator shall be paid as <br />Operator wages, while hours worked as a Hostler shall be paid Hostler wages. <br />Section 29.04 Scheduled work hours may vary from one Run Board to another. <br />Section 29.05 No spread time penalty, bonuses, or time-between-pieces shall be paid to an <br />employee in this position. The total hours scheduled per day, based upon a 5-day work week, shall <br />be 8.00 hours. This excludes overtime. Any extra Operator driving time in the 5-day work week <br />shall not eliminate the persons in this position from their scheduled Hostier time, unless special <br />circumstances exist. <br />Section 29.06 Employees in this position shall work Monday through Friday, except that overtime <br />on a weekend shall only be available for Hostler time. <br />Section 29.07 Employees in the temporary position of Hostler-Driver shall continue to <br />accumulate company senority. These same employees shall also accumulate Hostler classification <br />seniority, retroactive to March 14, 1993 for the purpose of their: 1) Shift Work Pick for Hostler, <br />however these same employees must continue in the Hostler-Driver position until these positions axe <br />no longer needed by the City, and 2) Vacation Pick for Hostler. Employees in this position shall <br />progress to the next rate step when scheduled. <br />24 <br />
