Such
grease trap shall be installed at least ten feet from the building
wherein the food is prepared, and such grease trap shall be cleaned
and maintained to the satisfaction of the Service Director, evidence
of such cleaning to be exhibited to a member of the Service
Department upon request and further grease, oil and sand inter-
ceptors shall be provided when, in the opinion of the Service
Director, they are necessary for the proper handling of liquid
wastes containing grease in excessive amounts, or any flammable
wastes, sand and other harmful ingredients, except that such inter-
ceptors shall not be required for private living quarters or
dwelling units. All interceptors shall be of a type and capacity
approved by the Service Director, and shall be located as to be
readily accessible for cleaning and inspection. Alternative size
and location conditions may be approved, but only if in conformance
to the Ohio Plumbing Code.
Grease and oil interceptors shall be constructed of impervious
materials capable of withstanding abrupt and extreme changes in
temperature. They shall be of substantial construction, water-
tight and equipped with easily removable covers which, when bolted
in place, shall be gastight an.d watertight.
Where installed, all grease, oil and sand interceptors shall be
maintained by the owner, at his expense, in continuously efficient
operation at all times."
SECTION 4: Sec. 911.12(h) of the Codified Ordinances of the City
of North Olmsted, Ohio, which now reads as follows:
"(h) Al1 measurements, tests and analyses of the characteristics
of waters and wastes to which reference is made in this Chapter
shall be determined in accordance with "Standard Methods", as
defined in Section 911.03(82), and in accordance with 40 CFR 136
entitled "Guidelines Establishing Test Procedures for Analysis of
Pollutants", and shall be determined at the control manhole
provided or upon suitable samples taken at such control manhole.
In the event that no special manhole has been required, the control
manhole shall be considered to be the nearest downstream manhole in
the public sewer to the point at which the building sewer is
connected. Sampling shall be carried out by customarily accepted
methods to reflect the effect of constituents upon the sewage works
and to determine the existence of hazards to life, limb and
property. The particular analysis involved will determine whether
a twenty-four hour composite of all outfalls of a premise is
appropriate or whether a grab sample or samples should be taken.
Normally, but not always, BOD and TSS analyses are obtained from
twenty-four hour composites of all outfalls, whereas pHs are
determined from periodic grab samples."
- 5 -
