P: ^ . , 2 <br />:L <br />27.2 The Employer shall grant leave with the Basic Hourly Rate <br />of Pay plus Longevity to an Employee for the period of <br />time he is required to appear for jury duty. <br />27.3 The Employee may be required to work weekends while on <br />jury duty. He shall not be required to work 12 hours <br />before jury duty or twelve hours after jury duty. <br />ARTICLE XXVIII <br />CONTINUING EDUCATION <br />The Employer shall provide continuing education for those <br />Employees who are required to recertify in areas that <br />require mandatory recertification for the Employee to <br />maintain employment. Costs for continuing education shall <br />be paid b'y the Employer and if said education requires <br />the Employee to attend classes above and beyond his Work <br />Schedule, he shall be paid Overtime Pay. The education <br />must be approved in advance by the Fire_Chief or his <br />designee. <br />ARTICLE XXIX <br />EQUIPMENT AND GEAR <br />29.1 The Employer shall furnish and maintain at no cost to the <br />Employee all gloves, helmets, protective clothing and <br />other protective equipment necessary to preserve and <br />protect the safety and health of the Employee as determined <br />by the Fire Chief. <br />29.2 A Safety Committee consisting of three (3) members of <br />the North Olmsted Fire Department, who have attained <br />the rank of first class, may be chosen by the membership <br />of Local 1267 I.A.F.F. shall constitute the Safety Committee. <br />The Committee, if chosen, shall meet with the Chief or <br />his designee at least twice per calendar year to discuss <br />matters considered by the Committee to effect the health <br />and safety of all Employees. Matters such as protective <br />clothing, equipment and the like may be discussed. . <br />The matters which are to be discussed at the meeting shall <br />be submitted to the Chief in writing 10 days before the <br />agreed date of the meeting. In addition, the Committee <br />shall also provide the Chief with recommendations for <br />correction actions at the time of submittal. The Chief <br />shall respond within 30 days or within a mutually agreed <br />time frame. Should a dispute exist with respect to the <br />decision of the Chief rEgarding corrective measures, the <br />Committee may submit a copy of said written notice to <br />the Director of Public Safety requesting relief from the <br />decision of the Chief.
