CHtDIATANCE NQ. 3158 <br />Page ? <br />(k) The lir!iits of toxic wastes discharged into the public sanitary sewer <br />system shall not exceed the following tentative limits as received at <br />the treatment works: <br />Iron 15 ppm <br />Zinc 2 ppm <br />Cyanide 1 ppm <br />Copper 1 ppan <br />Ptickel 3 ppm <br />Chromitnn <br />(Haxavalent) 2 ppm <br />Chromium <br />(Trivalent ) 1 ppm <br />Phenols 10 ppm <br />Lead 0.5 Ppm <br />Cadm3um It ppm <br />If the conceritration of any industrial waste exceeds the li.m3.ts <br />stipul.ated above, as recaived at tha municipal sewage treatment <br />plant.9 the ]argest contributor of such waste (s) followed in order <br />by the next largest contributors shall reduces by aceeptable pre- <br />treatment and/or flow regulation or botho the amDunts waated ta the <br />public aewer until the aggregate of RrV such waste ooncentration <br />at the treatment works shall not exceed the above prescribed limits. <br />00 Any wastes which have excessive Volume; B. 00 D.,• Color; ChlorirLe <br />Requiremente, concentration of settleable sol3.ds; or have unusual <br />conditions such as suspended solids af an a.nert nature; or tatal <br />dissolved solids which are ob3ectionable arui can not be handled at <br />the sewage treatment plant ar be removed in ths treatment process; <br />shall be sub3ect to specisl review by the Service Director .for: <br />(1) Approval or rejection of admission to the public sewers; or <br />(2) Modification at the point of origin to permit aclmission; or <br />(3) Pre-»treatment by the Industry to permit admission, <br />(m) Arry long half life (over 100 days) of toxic radio-active isoi:opes, <br />without special permit. <br />The radio-active isotopes I 131 and P 32 used in hospitals ar.e not <br />prohibited if properly diluted at the source and provided permission <br />is obtained from the Se,rvice Dir ector to discharge these wastes to <br />the sewer. <br />(n) .Any water or waste that for a duration of 15 minutes has a aoncentration <br />greater than 3 ti.mes that which is specified for suspended solids and <br />B.O.D. under Section 21 and/or which is discharged continuously at a <br />rate exceeding 200 gallons per minuteo will be unaeceptabl.e. <br />Section 20: GREASE, OIL AND S.AND INTERCEPTQRS. <br />Grease, oils and sand interceptors sh.all be prov3.ded when, in the opinion <br />of the ServiQe Dixector, they are necessar,y for the proper handling of <br />? <br />
