That all full-time sworn employees of the North Olmsted Police Department, excluding secretarial, clerical help, and dispatchers, shall be entitled to certain holidays during the year and shall not be required to work on these holidays, unless scheduled to work by the Chief of Police. In the event the employee either works or was not scheduled to work for reasons other than holiday leave on one of the following holidays, then the employee shall receive another day off from work to replace the holiday he worked or was not required to work for reasons other than holiday leave. The scheduled holidays are as follows: New Year's Day; President's Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Day; Veteran's Day; the employee's birthday; and the employee's personal use day. This provision does not apply to Auxiliary Police or School Guards. The holiday schedule for full-time secretarial and clerical help shall be in accordance with the ordinance establishing same. Dispatchers shall be entitled to the same holidays as full-time sworn employers as specified herein with the exception of Veterans Day which shall not be considered a paid holiday for dispatchers. J. That all full-time employees of the Police Department shall be entitled to an annual vacation in accordance with the following schedule: 1 to 5 years inclusive of full-time service: Two Weeks 6 to 11 years inclusive of full-time service: Three GJeeks 12 to 19 years inclusive of full-time service: Four Weeks 20 years and over of full-time service: Five Weeks For the purpose of a vacation week, a week shall be defined as seven (7) consecutive days off. Al1 vacation time shall be paid at the regular salary rate. If due to scheduling, vacations taken in the year earned and are accumulated and taken in the next subsequent year, the rate of vacation pay shall be the rate of pay during the year taken provided the same is first approved by the Safety Director. K. That for purposes of this Ordinance a work day is defined as a continuous eight (8) hour period and a work week is defined as forty (40) hours. L. That effective January 1, 1977, all full-time sworn employees with the exception of the Chief, the City of North Olmsted shall pay employees time and a half (lz) their regular rate of pay for all hours required to be worked in excess of the work day or week as defined in Paragraph K hereof. However, no employee shall be paid at an overtime rate for time spent while pursuing educational endeavors, mandatory schooling required by law or internal programs instituted by the Chief of Police relating to changes in the Revised Code or the Ohio Uniform Rules of Criminal Procedure. It shall, however, be appropriate to pay the overtime rate to employees who participate in specialty programs requiring training at times other than the employees' regular tour of duty and further that said programs have been designated by the Chief of Police as one for which the overtime rate will be paid. M. Any employee who qualifies for overtime by virtue of the provisions of Paragraphs K and L hereof shall be paid a minimum of two (2) hours when required to report for extra duty over and above his regular work day and work week. Said employee shall also be paid a minimum of two (2) hours for appearances at the Rocky River Municipal Court and a minimum of four (4) hours for appearances before the Grand Jury or Common Pleas Court when the same is required and is at a time other than the employee's regular work tour. The compensation for the aforesaid hours of credit will be at a rate of time and one half (12) of the employee's regular rate of pay. N. Any time a patrolman is required to temporarily take charge of a shift command, said patrolman shall be paid a premium of one additional hour at a straight time rate for each day he is required to do so.
