..~ <br />GENERAL RUMS <br />FOR <br />DUTIES AND CONDUCT <br />:Lle 27. Each member of the Department will be furnished with a copy of the <br />ales and regulations, which they shall, at all times, keep. 3n their possession. <br />ach member shall make himself thoroughly familiar with its contents. <br />cola 2$. Each member of the Police Department is expressly prohibited from en- <br />raging in any other calling or employment without first procuring through the <br />thief of Police the written approval of the Mayor. Each application for such <br />approval shall be in writing, shall be filed in duplicate with the Chief of <br />'olice and shall set forth in detail the nature of the proposed employment, the <br />same and address of the employer, and the estimated number of hours per day pro- <br />~osed to be devoted to such employment. Although the members of the Department <br />~,re assigned certain regular hours of duty, yet they are required to report for <br />iuty at any other time or times iuunediately after notice that their services <br />ire required. Members of the Department are considered to be on duty at all <br />Mmes for purposes of discipline. The hours of duty shall be as prescribed by <br />the Chief of Police. <br />tole 29. All members of the Department will be requ~.red to keep their persons, <br />unifozms, and equipment in a neat condition, and :ir, perfect order and repair. <br />Zule 30. All members of the Department whdn an duty, and in uniform, sha11 wear <br />the badge on the outside of the outermost garment, over the left breast. <br />3ule 31. No member of the Department she11 smoke while on the street, or in any <br />public place except from 1 A.NI. tc~ 5 A~. M„ All mezrber~s wearing uniform, headgear, <br />goat or overcoat wi11 be considered under this rule to be in uniform. <br />~.ule 32• All members of the Department will be required to give immediate obedience <br />~o every lawful order that ~ be given to them by a Superior Officer. Whenever <br />assigned to any special duty; other than their regular duties, they shall be <br />prompt in compliance with such order <br />~Zu1e 33. On all occasions when members of the Police Department are to act in <br />concert, the ranking officer shall take command and march his men in military <br />order. <br />Zule 34. Reports must be in writing as hereinafter provided, and must be made <br />gut by the member before reporting off-duty; provided however, that it shall be <br />she duty of said member to make a report of any act or event that may necessitate <br />she same immediately upon his next arrival at the station. <br />Zule 3z. The full name shall be written and the rank affixed to all police <br />records, reports or communications by members of the Department. <br />3ule 36. Members are forbidden to carry any weapon while on duty except such <br />~.s has been furnished by the Department, without the special permission of the <br />chief of Police. <br />3ule 37,. Courtesy of demeanor among all members of the Police Department, as well <br />~,s respect to Officers, is indispensable to discipline, Respect to Superior <br />Officers will not be confined to obedience when on active duty only, but shall be <br />-~` Maintained on all occasions.
