, .. . . . May 16, 1950. ,
"Honorable Mayor a.nd Council
Village of North 0lmsted, Ohio ;
Honorable Sirs: .., . . , . ,
"Recently rciy attention was drawn to the fact that a large section of
the Garden City Allotment will soon be'auctioned for taxes. In all
probability many of the purchasers will be applying for building permits.
"Last week I had an opportunity to carefully 3nspoct the allotment and fovnd that practically a11 of the lots 4th the exception of a few near
Lorain Road are low and lack proper drainage facilities. Inasmuch,
as municipal water mains have not been'installed the residents of this
` section are dependent upon wells`for their, water supply. Because of the
lack of drainage and:the absence of a`protected water supply the;build
ing of homes on the streets involved, namely: 'E]mhurst Road, Westunnt
Ave., Guildford Ave., Tiihitehaven Ave., Wellesley Ave., Corona Rd.,
Parkstone Ave., Overbrook Ave., and Braxbourns Road, would create a
serious health hazard and nuisance to the`residents of the district and
surrounding territory. The increasing of lot size would not help any,
unless ad.equate drainage wnuld be provided for each individual lot. , In
rr7 opinion, no building permits should be issued on these streets until
municipal water lines are installed, the lot size increased, and storm
sewers provided. : . - , .
Respectfully yours, :
A, S. MacLaren .
Deputy Commissioner"
