It was maved and seconded that the statutory rule be guspended <br />and the Ordinance be read immediately the second and third times and put on its <br />passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was as follows: Baum,,ardners Hatton., <br />Kramer, Lei,ris, Paddock, Scott. Thereupon the Ordinance was read the second and <br />third t3mes and put upon its passage, and the affirrnative vote thereon was as <br />follows: Baumgardner, Hatton, Kramer, Lewis, Paddocks Scott. <br />Ordinance #869 was introduced by Mr. Baumgardner. An Ordinance deterlninino to <br />proceed with the improvement of 6°Jalter ftoad from t,iaple Ridge Road to a point <br />806 feet north of Maple Ridge Road by constructing therein a water main. It was <br />moved and seconded that the statutory rule be suspended and the Urdinance be read <br />immediately the second and third times and put on its passage. The affirmative <br />vote on said nation was as follows: Baumgardner, Hatton, Kramer, Lewis, Paddocks <br />Scott. Thereupon the Ordinance was read the second and third times and put upon <br />its passage, and the affirmative vote therean was as follows: Baumgardner, Hatton, Kramer, Lswis, Paddock, Scott. <br />Ordinance #$bk was read the second time. <br />Mr. Baumgardner reported that the 'Pransportation Committee met on January 25, 1951 <br />with representatives of the Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company's Safety <br />Engineering Aepartmeni:, and discussed the possibility of a Safety program. He <br />said the safety prograr.i would have to wait until we knew who. would be awarded <br />the insurance bid. The driver's Com¢nittee was also present at the meeting and asked <br />for a raise in their hourly rate. No definite figure was stated. <br />In connection with an increase in drivers' hourly rate, the IIayor mentioned the ' <br />wage freeze which recently went into effect; however, he said the wage freeze may <br />not apply to Government and Municipal employees. He said a study was being made <br />and that while no amunt was stated he was under the impresaion that drivers _ <br />were asking for the balaanco of the quarter that they had requssted per hour t he <br />last time, which wnuld be 13¢. The i:iayor referred this ttatter to the Finance <br />Cc:c¢nittes for consideration. <br />Mr. Baumgardner reported that the Recreation Committee held a mesting on February 5s <br />1951, at which tibe they &cided to have adult classes in square dancing and <br />candle-mal*.ing, to start about t he 14th of February. In addition they discussed <br />the planting of trees on the new playground, and would like to havo some surveying <br />done there before April. The trees will be planted about the first of April, a.nd <br />they would like to have three lines run around the perimeter of t he playground where <br />they are going to do the planting. <br />Mr. Hatton read a cormmunication from Bert W. Kessel, regarding a Golf. Range on the <br />old Leon Coe property. The matter was referred to the Plannin ; Commission. <br />Mr. Leroy Harris subrs3.tted a plan for a pro,posed subdivision for the continuation <br />of Clifford. This matter was also referred to the Planning Commission. <br />Resolution #1711 was introduced by Mr. Baumgardner. A Resolution authorizing the <br />Clerk to deduct insurance pramiums from drivers' pay. It was mAVed and seconded <br />that the alaove Resolution bo adopted as read. Joseph & Company, <br />Cincinnati, in which he stated that he wnuld appear before the Council on February <br />20th to discuss the financi,ng of an incinerator through the isguance of revenue` <br />: bonds. . <br />The Mayor also read a letter from Mr. Proctor Noyes of the Regional Planning Commi.- <br />sion in connection with our decision not to contribute to ths Regional Planning <br />Commission this year, and said that he had invited 14r. Noyss to attend Council <br />meeting on liarch 6th. <br />A communication was read from Mayor A. I. Kauffman in conneetion with a letter frorn <br />Peck, Shaffer and jytilliams regarding the proposed construetion of a waterworks to <br />serve several suburban communities in Cuyahoga County, autside of the City;of - <br />, ; ??....? . ,. <br />; Cleveland. , - <br />?
