Citizens of North Olmsted : Protect Your Children ! This coming Tuesday evening, November 1, the City Council of North Olmsted will vote on the zoning change required to accommodate the praposed shopping center adjacent to North Olmsted Community 1'ark. We join our neighbors in welcoming this $4,000,000 center. It rep- resents a potential civic asset in which all citizens of North Olmsted i t nke pride. We urge the council to enact appropriate enabling legis- 13jJ'1'•• The zoning ordinance on which council will vote Tuesday evening provides for three major entrances and exits to the shopping center THROUGH NORTH OLMSTED COMMUNITY PARK! . It thus presents a threat-a clear and inescapable danger-to the lives of the hundreds of our youngsters who play in the park. This outrageous proposal amounts, in effect, to building a speedway ln the center of a playground. Its passage would be at best an act of callous indifference to the tecreational needs of our children-at worst, a criminal invitation to death and disaster among the little ones. There is another-a far better way. WE CAN HAVE BOTH CIVIC ASSETS.. We can gain the new shopping center WITHOUT LOSING OUR COMMUNITY PARK.
