Council Minutes of 03-18-2014 <br /> Councilman Barker, Vice-Chairman of the Building, Zoning & Development Committee: <br /> The BZD Committee met Tuesday March 11, 2014 at 7:17 p.m. Present were committee <br /> members Schumann, Barker and Williamson; Council President Jones; Council members <br /> Brossard, Hemann, Kearney and Limpert; Planning/Development Director and guests. <br /> • Discussed was Ordinance 2017-7 which is an Ordinance providing for the <br /> amendment of the Zone Map of the City of North Olmsted by rezoning Permanent <br /> Parcel Nos. 234-02-001, 234-02-002, 234-02-003, 234-02-004, 234-02-005, 234- <br /> 02-014 and 234-08-007, from Limited Industry-Industrial Park to Motorist <br /> Service District. Director Wenger reiterated and reinforced several points she had <br /> presented to all during a report that was given during a Public Hearing regarding <br /> this Ordinance earlier this evening. She explained that Mr. Schmidt had made <br /> application for the original four parcels to the Planning and Design Commission. <br /> The Commission added three more parcels. These parcels sit at the west end of <br /> the city on the north side of Lorain Rd. with the exception of one — Fuzzy's <br /> Tavern is on the south side. These parcels are presently zoned Industry-Industrial <br /> Park and the Ordinance would change them to Motorist Service District. <br /> Allowable uses would include auto service, gas station, lodging, food and <br /> beverage sales, car/truck sales/rental, recreation, business centers and convention <br /> facilities. Councilman Schumann made a motion to recommend approval of <br /> Ordinance 2017-7 with a correction to the first whereas clause to include the <br /> correctly named former Aetna warehouse structure. The motion was seconded by <br /> Councilman Barker, and the committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of <br /> Ordinance 2014-7. <br /> Councilwoman Hemann, Chairwoman of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee: <br /> The Intra-Governmental Relations Committee met on Tuesday March 11, 2014 at 6:47 <br /> p.m. for the purpose of interviewing Eric Allain, candidate for the Board of Zoning <br /> Appeals. Mr. Allain was recommended by Mayor Kennedy to fill a vacant position for <br /> the term January 1, 2014 through December 31, 2018. Present were committee members <br /> Hemann and Limpert; Council President Jones; Council members Barker and Schumann; <br /> Planning/Development Director Wenger and guests. The committee voted 2-0 to <br /> recommend approval of this appointment. The meeting was adjourned at 6:54 p.m. <br /> Councilwoman Hemann made a motion to approve the Mayor's appointment of Eric <br /> Allain to the Board of Zoning Appeals. The motion was seconded by Councilman <br /> Limpert and passed unanimously. Eric Allain appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals <br /> for the term January 1, 2104 through December 31, 2018 with a vote of 5-0. <br /> Council President Jones acknowledged former Council member Mark Mahoney who was <br /> in attendance as a resident in the audience. <br /> AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION <br /> Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane said he called the Safety/Service Director's office on <br /> Monday because they needed a flag for their flagpole. By Tuesday — today — they <br /> received the flag. He thanked Tim Szabo and Dave Demaline for taking care of this. <br /> 2 <br />
