Council Minutes of 03-04-2014 <br /> • Six lieutenant candidates from the Fire Dept. participated in an oral exam this past <br /> Saturday. Results should be available by next Monday at the Civil Service <br /> Commission meeting. <br /> • The Oxcart Pantry was featured on a Channel 5 news report on Wednesday <br /> February 26, 2014. The report kicked off the Harvest for Hunger campaign with <br /> the Greater Cleveland Food Bank. <br /> • On Thursday February 27, 2014, he has the privilege to attend the grand re- <br /> opening of the North Olmsted Senior Center. Many new potential senior <br /> members came to see the renovations for the first time. The architect's drawings <br /> for the new outdoor patio were unveiled. <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • A lawsuit has been commenced against the City of North Olmsted Lydia Thomas <br /> vs. Thomas Herbster, et al. This was a motor vehicle accident involving Mr. <br /> Herbster while operating a truck for the City of North Olmsted. This was filed <br /> last week and has been assigned to Judge Timothy McCormick. <br /> • An additional action was filed regarding Brian Bielozer vs. The City of North <br /> Olmsted Civil Service Commission. An appeal has been filed for the decision that <br /> was reached back in January to remove his name from the eligibility list for the <br /> promotion to Sergeant. He has filed a timely appeal to that decision to the Court <br /> of Common Pleas. This is on the docket of Judge Joan Synenberg. <br /> • He commented that Officer Justice is an exceptional officer and will certainly be <br /> in his prayers as he recovers. <br /> Director of Finance Copfer: <br /> • She completed and E-mailed the fourth quarter review and narrative that <br /> corresponds with the summary and detail reports that Council received via E-mail <br /> on February 6, 2014. <br /> • With the Building and Code Enforcement going live in December 2013, they have <br /> reassessed, reprioritized and reallocated their Munis IT consultant to assist in the <br /> full implementation of work orders in the Service Dept. This will go on to Fleet <br /> and Waste Water to achieve the efficiency that was intended with the work order <br /> module. <br /> Councilman Kearney, Chairman of the Finance Committee: <br /> The Finance Committee met Tuesday March 4, 2014 at 7:15 p.m. Present were <br /> committee members Kearney, Schumann and Barker; Council members Brossard and <br /> Limpert; Mayor Kennedy, Law Director Gareau and Safety/Service Director Glauner. <br /> • Discussed was Resolution 2014-19 which is a Resolution authorizing the Mayor <br /> to request proposals from professionals qualified to create and implement <br /> outreach programs to raise awareness of Fair Housing laws and housing <br /> discrimination and, further, to educate residents on their rights and responsibilities <br /> under the Fair Housing laws of the City of North Olmsted and the United States <br /> of America and, following selection by the Board of Control, authorizing the <br /> Mayor to enter into a contract for said services, and declaring an emergency. <br /> Ass't Law Director Heyward explained the many reasons for why this is needed. <br /> 2 <br />
