Councilwoman Williamson, Vice Chairwoman of the Intra-Governmental Relations Committee: The Intra-Governmental Relations Committee met Tuesday November 12, 2013 at 7:45 p.m. Present were committee members Williamson and Smith. • North Olmsted resident Amal Mustafa was interviewed to fill a vacancy on the Fair Housing Review Board. The committee voted 2-0 to recommend approval of the Mayor's appointment. Councilwoman Williamson made a motion to approve the Mayor's appointment of Amal Mustafa to the Fair Housing Review Board for the term ending December 31, 2014. The motion was seconded by Councilman Orlowski and passed unanimously. Appointment approved 7-0. Councilwoman Williamson, Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health & Welfare Committee: ‘tow The Public Safety Committee met Tuesday November 12, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Present were committee members Williamson, Smith & Schumann; Council President Jones; Council members Brossard and Kearney; Mayor Kennedy, Finance Director Copfer, Law Director Gareau & guests. • Discussed was Ordinance 2013-98 which is an Ordinance amending Section 3 of Ordinance No. 2002-103, as later amended by Ordinance Nos. 2002-154 and 2008-155, which collectively established fees and charges for emergency medical services rendered by the City of North Olmsted Fire Department, in order to increase fees ad charges currently charged, and declaring an emergency. Finance Director Copfer explained that ambulance billing in the city has not increased in several years. Great Lakes Billing was approached was asked to compare our city's rates with others. The Ordinance reflects an increase in rates. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of Ordinance 2013-98. After this meeting, Councilwoman Williamson said she was approached by a concerned citizen who had several questions regarding this particular legislation which prompted further inquiry into this issue. Councilwoman Williamson made a motion to remove Ordinance 2013-98 from the agenda. The motion was seconded by Councilman Orlowski and passed unanimously.
