Council Minutes of 11-05-2014
• As Springvale closes the end of the season, revenues are up over $30,000 over
projections. The Ballroom should reach their number of $650,000.
Director of Law Gareau:
• He thanked the Mayor and Council for the presentation of the new appointments
of police officers and firemen. He likes the employees being sworn in and
recognized at Council meetings, and it's a good introduction of new employees.
• He, Assistant Director of Law O'Malley and Michelle Sheehan of Reminger
Company were involved in a settlement conference requested by Plaintiffs in the
matter of Brian Bielozer vs. The City of North Olmsted. This is the lawsuit for
damages against the city. It is apparent that there will be no settlement reached in
this particular case, and they expect the next action will be depositions of
Bielozer, his wife and multiple employees of the City of North Olmsted.
Following this, they will request that a number of those charges be dismissed.
Director of Finance Copfer:
• No report.
Councilman Kearney, Chairman of the Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee met Tuesday October 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Present were
committee members Kearney and Barker; Council members Hemann and Limpert;
Mayor Kennedy and Law Director Gareau:
• Discussed was Ordinance 2014 -74 which is an Ordinance to revise the Codified
Ordinances by adopting current replacement pages, and declaring an emergency.
Codification is an annual process where all amendments and additions to the
city's Code are incorporated into the Code so the Codified Ordinance books can
be updated and kept current. The city has a five -year contract with Walter Drane
Company, and this year's cost will be approximately $5,000. The committee
voted 2 -0 to recommend approval of Ordinance 2014 -74.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
No comments.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2014 -70 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. A
Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract with Diane Tomer for the
purpose of engaging her to sell advertising space at the North Olmsted Recreation Center.
Councilman Barker moved for adoption. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Kearney and passed unanimously. Resolution 2014 -70 adopted 5 -0.
Ordinance 2014 -74 introduced by Councilman Barker was given its second reading. An
Ordinance to revise the Codified Ordinances by adopting current replacement pages, and
declaring an emergency.
