Council Minutes of 05-19-2015
Councilman Brossard, Chairman of the Recreation, Public Parks & Buildings Committee:
The Recreation Committee met Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 7:25 p.m. Present were
committee members Brossard, Kearney and Schumann; Council President Jones; Council
members Barker, Hemann, Limpert and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Finance Director
Copfer and Planning/Development Director Wenger.
• The Mayor and his Administration gave a presentation on the Springvale Master
Plan. This particular proposal is a renovation totaling just over $11 million for
the Springvale facility. This would consist of six phases — maintenance facility
and outdoor pavilion area (most expensive portion), clubhouse renovations,
ballroom renovations, building exterior and parking, lower level ballroom and
outdoor tennis courts. The presentation was given by JPP Architects (John
Patrick Picard), and his vision was to look at the long term success of the
Springvale buildings and not just the golf course. One of the main objectives was
to move the maintenance facility away from the ballroom facility because
everyone agrees it poses a potential safety hazard as maintenance equipment is
stored here.
• Discussed was Resolution 2015-38 which is a Resolution proclaiming July as
Parks and Recreation Month in the City of North Olmsted, Ohio. The committee
voted 3-0 to recommend approval of Resolution 2015-38.
Councilman Schumann, Chairman of the Building, Zoning & Development Committee:
The BZD Committee met Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. Present were committee
members Schumann, Barker and Williamson; Council President Jones; Council members
Brossard, Hemann, Kearney and Limpert; Mayor Kennedy, Finance Director Copfer,
Safety/Service Director and Planning/Development Director Wenger.
• Discussed was CMS 15-2762 Ganley Honda located at 25870 Lorain Road. There will be a substantial upgrade to the entire site, especially for
unloading cars, as well as substantial storm water upgrade. There will also be
removal of the curb cut on Ranchview. This was recommended by the Planning
and Design Commission along with a change to a cedar wood fence. The
committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of this project.
Councilman Schumann made a motion to recommend approval of CMS 15-2762 Ganley
Honda located at 25870 Lorain Road subject to the recommendations set forth by the
Planning and Design Commission.
