Council Minutes of 06-16-2015 <br /> event a huge success. He appreciates the generosity of all of the sponsors and the <br /> 150 runners and many spectators for being a part of this event to help raise money <br /> for area student scholarships. <br /> • Make your plans to celebrate the Bicentennial Boom on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at <br /> Great Northern Mall. The festival will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the parking lot south <br /> of Regal Cinema. There will be food trucks, music and other family fun <br /> entertainment. Don't miss the return of fireworks to North Olmsted for the first <br /> time in 25 years. <br /> • The North Olmsted Fire Fighters 28th Annual Cruise-In 2015 is scheduled for <br /> Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Great Northern Corporate <br /> Center located at 25000 Country Club Blvd. Come for a fun filled evening <br /> featuring classic cars, custom cars, great food and great music. The cost is $10 <br /> and all proceeds benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The rain date will <br /> be July 9, 2015. For more information please call the Fire Station at 440-777- <br /> 1220. <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • As a follow up to the Charter Review Commission's proposals and <br /> recommendations, the Commission had made a recommendation to Council with <br /> respect to Article IV, Section 9; Rules and Journal of Council with regard to <br /> minority party language. The Commission felt that this language was <br /> unnecessary and can be removed by means other than going before the voters. He <br /> requested that Council formally refer this issue to the Law Dept. for a legal <br /> opinion. <br /> Councilman Barker made a motion to refer to the Law Dept. the Charter Review <br /> Commission's recommendation to remove minority party language from Article IV, <br /> Section 9; Rules and Journal of Council. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman <br /> Williamson and passed unanimously. Recommendation referred to the Law Dept. for a <br /> legal opinion 6-0. <br /> Director of Finance Copfer: <br /> • No report. <br /> Council President Jones, Committee of the Whole: <br /> The Committee of the Whole met on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at 7:56 p.m. Present were <br /> Council members Jones, Barker, Brossard, Kearney, Limpert, Schumann and <br /> Williamson; Law Director Gareau, Planning/Development Director Wenger, Charter <br /> Review Commission Vice-Chairman Brake and Charter Review Commission member <br /> Ken Neuzil. <br /> • The purpose of the meeting was to review the Charter Review Commission's <br /> recommendations to Council of Charter changes that are going to be asked of the <br /> electors. All legislation for these amendments are on the agenda for first reading <br /> this evening. Attached to these minutes are the Commission's recommendations. <br /> All recommendations were discussed, and the Committee of the Whole <br /> recommended approval of all recommendations 6-0. <br /> 2 <br />
