Council Minutes of 06-02-2015 <br /> Director of Law Gareau: <br /> • In the matter of Brian Bielozer, et al vs. the City of North Olmsted the defendants <br /> appealed their case in the United States 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. A client <br /> telephone mediation has been scheduled for July 22, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., and a <br /> briefing schedule will be set once mediation is complete. The Plaintiffs were <br /> ordered to pay the city the sum of $5,188.75 as costs associated with the <br /> litigation. <br /> • In the matter of The Fraternal Order of Police vs. the City of North Olmsted, also <br /> concerning former Officer Bielozer, the city will be filing a reply brief to the post <br /> hearing brief that was filed by the union. <br /> Director of Finance Copfer: <br /> • Bond debt service interest payments were made on June 1, 2015 totaling <br /> $532,344. Over the years, the interest rate has become smaller with the principal <br /> reduction becoming larger. <br /> • The City of North Olmsted general purpose December 31, 2014 financial <br /> statements were filed with the State Auditor's office by the deadline of June 1, <br /> 2014. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is still in process, and the <br /> auditors are close to completing their audit. The CAFR is due by the end of June. <br /> The Committee of the Whole met Tuesday, May 25, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss <br /> Ordinance 2014-64 which is an Ordinance amending Section 505.10 of the General <br /> Offenses Code of the City of North Olmsted entitled "Hunting Prohibited" to allow the <br /> city and private citizens to manage the white-tail deer population in the city, as amended. <br /> Present were all members of Council, Mayor Kennedy, Law Director Gareau and <br /> Safety/Service Director Glauner. Possible amendments to this legislation were discussed, <br /> including taking out the bow hunting in a controlled environment provision and including <br /> a city-led sharp shooting program which would allow for city or state law enforcement <br /> officers to sharp shoot deer in a controlled environment. Council voted 7-0 to hold this <br /> legislation in committee to allow for further discussion regarding the amendments. The <br /> meeting was adjourned at 7:49 p.m. <br /> Councilman Barker, Chairman of the Public Safety, Health& Welfare Committee: <br /> The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 7:50 <br /> p.m. Present were committee members Barker, Williamson and Brossard; President of <br /> Council Jones; Council members Hemann, Kearney, Limpert and Schumann; Mayor <br /> Kennedy, Law Director Gareau, Safety Service Director Glauner and guests. <br /> • Discussed was liquor permit No. 6951449 for Pizza North LLC, DBA Danny <br /> Boy's Craft Pizza & Pints located at 24133 Lorain Rd. Sgt. Wagner found no <br /> objections to this permit. Councilman Barker made a recommendation to not <br /> object to this liquor permit. The motion was seconded by Councilwoman <br /> Williamson, and the committee voted 3-0 to not object. <br /> Councilman Barker made a motion to not object to liquor permit No. 6951449 for Pizza <br /> North LLC, DBA Danny Boy's Craft Pizza & Pints located at 24133 Lorain Rd. The <br /> motion was seconded by Councilwoman Williamson and passed unanimously. Liquor <br /> permit approved 6-0. <br /> 2 <br />
