c. NCFI Polyurethanes <br /> 2.02 MATERIALS <br /> A. Under Slab and Foundation Wall Insulation: Expanded polystyrene extruded into 2 inch <br /> thick boards for under slabs and over foundation waterproofing, or as indicated on Drawings. <br /> Provide insulation conforming to the requirements of ASTM C 578, Type IV; with a 5 year <br /> aged R-value of 5. <br /> B. Unit Masonry Insulation: Fill ungrouted cells of masonry with foamed in place two <br /> component thermal insulation. Insulation shall be a Class A material with an R value of 4.9 <br /> per inch. Provide masonry insulation as manufactured by CORE-FILL 500 asmanufactured <br /> by Tailored Chemical Products, Hickory, NC, or acceptable equal. <br /> C. Cavity Wall Insulation: Extruded polystyrene insulation boards meeting or exceeding the <br /> requirements of ASTM C578, Type IV, and with a "K"factor of 0.20 or less when tested in <br /> accordance with ASTM C 518. Provide insulation 1-1/2 inches thick unless otherwise <br /> shown. <br /> D. Roof Insulation: Provide a minimum of 2" polyisocyanuate insulation. Provide aminimumof <br /> two staggered layers, unless otherwise indicated. Provide tapered insulation where roof <br /> structure does not slope. Roof insulation shall be approved by roofing manufacturer in <br /> accordance with the requirements of the roofing warranty. Roof insulation shall meet the <br /> requirements of a UL Class A and FMCIass 1 roof. Insulation shall have an aged R-value of <br /> 5 per inch. Secure insulation as required by the roofing manufacturer to achieve an FM 90 <br /> installation. Install 1/2" glass faced gypsum board where insulation is installed over metal <br /> deck. <br /> E. Safing Insulation: Semi-rigid boards for use as fire stop. Materials shall conform to <br /> requirements of UL penetration systems. Safing material shall meet the requirements of <br /> ASTM E-136. <br /> F. Sprayed Polyurethane Foam: Apply by factory trained or certified installers. Foam blowing <br /> agent shall zero ozone depleting potential, no VOC's and be formaldehyde free. Foamshall <br /> be a closed cell with a 2 lb. density and provide a minimum R value of 5 per inch. Foam <br /> shall be Class I product in accordance with ASTME84. Exposed surfaces shall be sprayed <br /> with an approved intumescent barrier or approved thermal barrier. <br /> G. Adhesive and Fasteners: Type compatible with insulation, masonry, concrete, or other <br /> substrate and as recommended or produced by the insulation manufacturer. <br /> H. Sealer and Tape: Type recommended by insulation manufacturer and having perm rating <br /> and fire resistance characteristics similar to that of the insulation. <br /> PART 3 -- EXECUTION <br /> 3.01 GENERAL <br /> A. Insulation shall be provided in walls, slabs and ceilings and where shown on Drawings. <br /> 3.02 INSTALLATION OF INSULATION <br /> A. Install in accordance with the manufacturer's printed installation instructions to provide <br /> maximum sound and thermal benefits formaterial specified. Install to fill or cover voids. Cut <br /> neatly to snugly fit angles, corners and irregular areas and carefully wrapped around pipes, <br /> conduits, outlets, switches, beams, etc., to maintain continuity of insulation. Avoid gaps or <br /> bridges. <br /> B. Foundation and Under-Slab Insulation <br /> 1. On vertical surfaces, set units in adhesive applied in accordance withmanufacturer's <br /> instructions. Stagger vertical joints, except ends over line of expansion joints. <br /> 2. On horizontal surfaces, set units level, unless otherwise noted. <br /> C. Cavity Wall Insulation <br /> 1. On vertical surfaces of masonry adhere to inner wythe of block. <br /> 2.
