Council Minutes of 06-21-2016
Schumann and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Finance Director Copfer, Safety & Service
Director Glauner and guests.
• Discussed first was Resolution 2016-68 which is a Resolution authorizing the
Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to
provide construction services for the Bradley Road Pump Station Rehabilitation
Project, as detailed in the specifications on file with the City Engineer, and
authorizing the Mayor, following approval of the Board of Control, to contract for
the same with the lowest and best bidder. Director Glauner noted that the pump
station is being replaced due to the age and condition of the existing facilities and
to address any necessary Code upgrades. There are currently no capacity
concerns at this station. However, there will be improvements that include select
demolition and installation of the new pumps, etc. There will also be
improvement to the building HVAC system. Upgrades will be comparable to the
ones made at the Dover and Lebern pump stations. There will be an approximate
50% improvement in the flow and improvement in the grinders. Finance Director
Copfer noted that Olmsted Township pays a portion of the project for its usage
and fees. The committee voted 2-0 to recommend approval of Resolution 2016-
68.
• Discussed last was Resolution 2016-72 which is a Resolution authorizing the
Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to
provide construction services for the Pine Basin Drainage Project, as detailed in
the specifications on file with the City Engineer, and authorizing the Mayor,
following approval of the Board of Control, to contract for the same with the
lowest and best bidder. This project has been discussed by Council over the
course of a year and a half. The Mayor noted that the City continues to make a
legal effort to purchase the property through eminent domain. He also noted that
the City and school board have had very constructive communications lately as
well as cooperating with any measures to help move the project forward while the
eminent domain process takes place. The committee voted 2-0 to recommend
approval of Resolution 2016-72. The meeting was adjourned at 8:54 p.m.
Councilwoman Hemann took a moment of personal privilege to welcome Commander
Myers and to thank him for speaking and encouraging everyone to support the VFW.
She is happy to serve as the Auxiliary Junior Vice President this year. She thanked Mrs.
Myers as well.
LETTERS & COMMUNICATIONS
Letter from resident, Enrique Cubarrubia, is attached to these minutes.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Dennis Lambert, 25057 Carey Lane told the Mayor that he forgot to tell the new VFW
Commander how much he appreciates the beer tent at the North Olmsted Homecoming.
Lambert referenced the street signalization report given by Councilwoman Williamson.
He asked how this will interface with the project of converting to LED lights? He asked
the Finance Director two years ago where the $8 million is for the project, and she told
him not to worry that's two years down the road. Now it's been two years.
