Council Minutes of 1-17-2017 <br />• Discussed first was Resolution 2017-1. A Resolution authorizing the Director of <br />Public Service to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide <br />cracksealing on various streets at various locations in the City, as detailed in the <br />specifications on file in the Service Department, and authorizing the Mayor, <br />following approval of the Board of Control, to contract for the same with the <br />lowest and best bidder. <br />• Also discussed was Resolution 2017-2. A Resolution authorizing the Director of <br />Public Service to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide new <br />pavement markings to various streets at various locations in the City, as detailed <br />in the specifications on file in the Service Department, and authorizing the Mayor, <br />following approval of the Board of Control to contract for the same with the <br />lowest and best bidder. <br />• Discussed third was Resolution 2017-3. A Resolution authorizing the Director of <br />Public Service to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide asphalt <br />resurfacing and related repairs upon City streets, as detailed in the specifications <br />on file with the Engineer, and authorizing the Mayor, following approval of the <br />Board of Control, to contract for the same with the lowest and best bidder. <br />• Director Glauner explained that these three projects are done each year. A motion <br />was made to recommend these three Resolutions to Council and the motion <br />passed 3-0. <br />• The final item discussed was Resolution 2017-5. A Resolution authorizing the <br />Mayor to purchase a new Duraco Durapatcher Model 125DJT Trailer Mount <br />Spray Injection Machine from Leader Machine Company, LTD. At a cost of <br />$56,673.00, through the State Purchase Program; and further authorizing the <br />Mayor to execute all documents necessary to effectuate such purchase. Director <br />Glauner explained this item and it was covered in the annual budget hearings. A <br />motion was made to recommend to all Council and it passed 3-0. <br />Councilman Schumann Chairman of the Building, Zoning and Development Committee: <br />The Building, Zoning and Development Committee met on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at <br />7:15 p.m. Present were committee members Schumann, Barker and Williamson; Council <br />members Brossard, Hemann, Kearney and Limpert; Human Resources Director Gallo, <br />Safety & Services Director Glauner, Planning & Development Director Wenger, John <br />Crook from Carnegie Management and Development Corporation and guests. <br />• Discussed was CMS 16-7391 for 26127 Lorain. This project consists of the <br />redevelopment of the former Family Christian Bookstore and the demolition of <br />the former Canterbury Animal Hospital to become a University Hospital Medical <br />Office Building. A small addition will be built on the building with a new color <br />scheme. It will be white and grey with red canopies. Currently there are three <br />existing curb cuts, which will be reduced down to one. Brick pavers will be <br />installed in the right of way along with new parking lot lighting. The plan was <br />generally well received and has the Planning Commission's recommendation. The <br />committee voted to recommend 3-0. <br />Councilman Schumann made a motion to recommend approval of CMS 16-7391. The <br />motion was seconded by Councilman Barker and passed unanimously.
