Council Minutes of 3-21-2017
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Catherine Ciha, Senior Transportation Connection located at 4735 West 150th Street,
Cleveland. She was joined by her colleague Marti Pytel who is a North Olmsted resident.
They wanted to address Council about a new program launching on April 1 providing
additional transportation for seniors and adults with disabilities residing within North
Olmsted. The first of the year we were notified that the Senior Transportation Connection
was one of six recipients of a national grant designed to explore new ways of
transportation for people with mobility limitations. She said they were pleased to have as
partners the North Olmsted Senior Center, Services for Independent Living and NOACA
to help us launch expanded services in your community. Since 2009 the Senior
Transportation Connection has been providing weekday transportation for adults 60 and
older predominately for personal business such as medical appointments and other things
they need to stay independent, active and involved in their community. Ms. Ciha said it
has been an effective program and the Senior Transportation Connection was pleased
they could offer a separate, unique and additional program. This program will allow
seniors and other adults to pay a small fee to be transported to even more places for social
reasons, worship and recreation not only within North Olmsted, but outside of the
community as well. She said they wanted to make it clear they are looking forward to
doing even more things to benefit your residents and adding and enhancing some new
services in addition to the great working relationship they've had with the City to this
point.
The Mayor thanked the Senior Transportation Connection for the good work they do and
for thinking of the City when they received the grant. Thank you very much.
President Jones thanked them for being here and asked when the Open House was going
to be to provide people with more information.
Ms. Ciha said they would be having an Open House on Monday, March 27 at 1:00 p.m.
at the Senior Center.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2017-24 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and was given its third reading. A
Resolution dispensing with the RFQ process and authorizing the Mayor to renew a
contract with M133 Consulting LLC for the purpose of providing economic development
consulting services to the City. Councilman Kearney moved for adoption. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Schumann and passed unanimously. Resolution 2017-24
adopted 7-0.
Resolution 2017-25 introduced by Mayor Kennedy and was given its third reading. A
Resolution dispensing with the Request for Proposal (R.F.P.) process required to obtain
the services of a vendor to provide plumbing and HVAC preventative maintenance
services at the Recreation Center and authorizing the Mayor to enter into a two (2) year
contract with the Brewer -Garrett Company, and declaring an emergency.
