Council Minutes of 2-6-2018 <br />The Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee met on Tuesday, January 23, <br />2018 at 7:00 p.m. Present were committee members Kearney, Hemann and Brossard; <br />Council members Glassburn, Limpert, Schumann and Williamson; Council President <br />Jones; Mayor Kennedy, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, Director of Human <br />Resources Gallo, Director of Planning & Development Lieber and guests. <br />• Discussed was Ordinance 2018-6. An Ordinance establishing a revised Fee and <br />Charge Schedule for the rental of the Community Cabin/Senior Center. This is <br />only a small increase with the Administration keeping the rates competitive with <br />other local communities. The Committee voted 3-0 to recommend to Council. <br />• Discussed next was Ordinance 2018-7. An Ordinance amending and restating <br />Section 957.01 of Chapter 957 (Alcoholic Beverages on Public Grounds) of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City of North Olmsted in order to modify the approval <br />process for permits. This will make the renting of the Community Cabin easier for <br />the people wanting to use the facility. It will streamline the process, but still gives <br />the Administration the authority on who is able to rent the cabin. The Committee <br />voted 3-0 to recommend to Council. <br />The Recreation, Public Parks and Buildings Committee also met on Tuesday, February 6, <br />2018 at 7:00 p.m. Present were committee members Kearney and Hemann; Council <br />members Schumann and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Director of Finance Copfer, <br />Director of Safety & Service Glauner and guests. <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2018-12. A Resolution authorizing the Mayor, on <br />behalf of the City of North Olmsted, to enter into an agreement with the Northeast <br />Ohio Public Energy Council (NOPEC), to accept NOPEC energized community <br />grants for 2018, and declaring an emergency. The City has three projects eligible <br />for a $123,000 grant. The Committee voted 2-0 to recommend to Council with <br />suspension. <br />Councilwoman Williamson Vice Chairwoman of the Public Safety, Health and Welfare <br />Committee: <br />The Public Safety, Health and Welfare Committee met on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at <br />7:16 p.m. Present were committee members Brossard, Williamson and Limpert; Council <br />members Glassburn, Hemann, Kearney and Schumann; Council President Jones; Mayor <br />Kennedy, Director of Human Resources Gallo, Director of Safety & Service Glauner, <br />Director of Planning & Development Lieber and guests. <br />• Discussed was Resolution 2018-8. A Resolution authorizing the Mayor to <br />purchase for Police Department use three (3) new Ford Utility Police Interceptors <br />and related equipment, all through the State Purchase Program; and further <br />authorizing the Mayor to execute all documents necessary to effectuate such <br />purchase, and declaring an emergency. Director Glauner stated the Police <br />Department plans to purchase three new SUV Interceptors at an approximate cost <br />of $30,000 each and the older vehicles will be repurposed to other city <br />departments. Responding to questions from the Committee and Council, Director <br />Glauner stated the vehicles would be purchased through the State Purchase <br />Program from a dealership in Columbus. The timeline is approximately six <br />months to acquire the vehicles and it costs about $8 to $9 thousand to retrofit. <br />3 <br />
