Council Minutes of 5-1-2018
MacKenzie road in Olmsted Township to Cook Road, but the County would need
to decide to move forward with that portion of the project. The Committee voted
2-0 to recommend to Council.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Terry Groden
25211 Chase Drive
Mr. Groden is the Vice President for the North Olmsted Board of Education. He said he
is speaking on behalf of the District to thank the City for considering Resolution 2018-37.
As a Trustee on the Ohio School Board Association after the shooting in Parkland the
Trustees asked the Association to organize an in-depth conversation with all stakeholders
in the state on the topic of school safety. Mr. Groden said they now have commitments
from 20 organizations and associations to participate in a summit in Columbus this
summer on appropriate and effective ways to increase school safety. He said it is
important because there needs to be diverse, but unified, voices to stand up and say our
schools need to be safe. Mr. Groden says this is why considering Resolution 2018-37 is
appreciated. Mr. Groden also said before he came to the Council Meeting this evening he
was at the high school for the National Honor Society induction ceremony for students
this year. He said both there and here this evening we all saw a wonderful reflection of
the treasures we are obligated to protect.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2018-37 introduced by Councilman Kearney on behalf of himself, Council
President Jones, Councilman Brossard, Councilwoman Hemann and Councilman
Schumann was given its third reading.
