Council Minutes of 6-5-2018
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees ("AFSCME"),
Ohio Council 8, Local 2681 for the City's Service Unit employees, for the period
July 1, 2018 through December 31, 2020 and declaring an emergency. As
reported by Director Gallo this contract has already be negotiated, it will run for
the next 2.5 years. There will be 2.5% raises in 2018, 2.5% in 2019 and 2% in
2020. The bargaining will also move into the new health plan. This is comparable
to the contracts we have with other bargaining units. The committee voted 2-0 to
recommend to Council.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION
Jennifer Rudolph
3329 Walter Road
Ms. Rudolph asked about Resolution 2018-61 being introduced this evening. She wanted
to know if it was the same legislation that was put on the ballot last month.
The Mayor responded yes it is.
Ms. Rudolph asked if the recount had been finalized as last she heard it was down by 31
votes.
Director Copfer responded that was the final.
Ms. Rudolph said she was curious of the rational for bringing this forward again.
The Mayor responded it was a 50150 vote and there will be more voters this time which
will provide a better reflection of the community. He said the reality is in many aspects
the Recreation Center is on its last leg. He said this is a rec community and people bought
their house knowing they had a rec center. The Mayor said either you do it right or you
don't do it.
Ms. Rudolph asked what the City thought would be different this time. She said last time
she believed the City had four open house sessions and flyers go out and other
information and it didn't pass. She wanted to know what would make it different this
time.
The Mayor responded it was 31 votes and the City will need to get more information out.
He said the Recreation Center is not going to last forever so either you don't want a
Recreation Center or you want these improvements.
Ms. Rudolph asked if it fails again is the anticipation that this would continue to be
brought forward.
The Mayor responded he did not know, but he did not think so.
LEGISLATION
