3.03 The Employer shall during wage/contract negotiations, endeavor to schedule time for <br />members ofthe negotiation team to participate in the negotiations without having to have worked <br />the 1 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m, shift immediately prior to any negotiation session. <br />3.04 Employees who are elected members of the FOP/OLC Labor Committee shall be <br />authorized a bank of eighty (80) hours of paid leave, per calendar year, to attend FOP/OLC <br />sponsored functions such as educational meetings, business meetings, or seminars. The bank of <br />eighty (80) hours shall be used collectively by elected committee members representing the Blue <br />Unit, Gold Unit and Corrections Unit. All requests to use hours from this bank shall be <br />submitted in writing for approval by the Chief of Police or his Designee, which shall not be <br />Unreasonably withheld. It is understood that the attendance will not be approved if' it will incur <br />overtime, at the time the approval is granted. Additional time may be granted at the sole <br />discretion of the Police Chief. <br />ARTICLE 4 AGENCY SHOP/DUES DEDUCTION <br />4.01 All employees in the bargaining unit shall either become dues paying members of the <br />POP or, as a condition of continued employment, remit to the FOP a fair share fee in accordance <br />with the provisions of Ohio Revised Code Section 41 17.09(C). <br />4.02 Any newly hired employees in the bargaining unit shall, within sixty (60) days of date of <br />employment, either elect to become members of the IOP or remit the fair share fee. As provided <br />in Ohio Revised Code Section 41 17.09(C), nothing in this Article shall be deemed to require any <br />employee to become a member of the FOP. <br />4.03 The Employer agrees to deduct FOP dues and fees from any member ol'the bargaining <br />unit who provides written authorization for a payroll clues and fees deduction. The FOP shall <br />indemnify the Employer and hold it harmless against any and all claims, demands, suits or other <br />liability that may arise by reason of any action of the Employer in complying with the provisions <br />of this Article. <br />ARTICLE 5 WORK WI',I;K/SCI II DULF-D HOURS <br />5.01 For the purpose of this agreement, a workday is defined as continuous eight (8) hour <br />period in any twenty-four (24) hour period, except during those periods which a double back <br />occurs. A double back is defined as the work period in which an employee completes a shift and <br />starts another shift or assignment within the same twenty-four (24) hour period. Double backs <br />required by the Employer will be paid at time and a half (1 '/2). A workweek is defined as forty <br />(40) hours. <br />5.02 Compensation for regularly scheduled eight (8) hour days shall be at the straight -time <br />rate of pay. <br />
