PROPOSAL FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED consultants
LEBERN DRIVE, DOVER CENTER ROAD, AND
CLAUGE PARK PUMP STATIONS' IMPROVEMENTS
PRELIMINARY DESIGN
increases to 100% outside air only if the building is occupied (interlock with lights), or high
gas levels (gas detector) are present. This system, which modulates outside air,
generally uses significantly less energy than the 100% outside air system described
above. The modulating outside air system complies with NFPA 820 "Standard for Fire
Protection in Wastewater Facilities." Bradley Road does not currently have mechanical
cooling, however, this will be evaluated further as part of this Scope of Services.
The following HVAC improvement concepts for Lebern and Dover will be evaluated as
part of the Preliminary Design Phase:
1. Installation of an interior unit, similar to the Bradley Road design, which would
involve the demolition of the existing unit and abandonment of the underground
duct system. An evaluation of associated impacts to the site will be included with
this alternative.
2. An exterior unit with configuration and controls similar to Bradley Road, located
where the existing units are, and reutilize the existing underground ducts.
3. Retain the majority of the custom modular exterior unit, and replace or modify the
back section/module currently providing 100% outside air, with a mixing section
(outside air, return air). The adjacent exhaust fan would be removed, and existing
exhaust duct would be extended as return air to the unit.
All of these options will achieve the overall project goal to provide an HVAC system that
will utilize a mixed air design of outside and recirculated air.
These evaluations will also include a determination of impacts for the inclusion of
mechanical cooling as part of these improvements. It is anticipated that mechanical
cooling will be provided via a separate, ductless, refrigerant split system (interior
evaporator, exterior condensing unit), or incorporated (modular) with the
heating/ventilating unit.
Prepared by CT Consultants, Inc.
