Council Minutes of 1 1-7-2018
Jim Urmetz
4286 Coe
Mr. Urmetz says he can verify everything that was just said. He said one thing that hasn't
been discussed is there is still debris on the street from the storm. The debris is on the tree
lawns and the chipper trucks from the City go by and do nothing about it.
Director Glauner said the citywide sweeps started yesterday and are going through the
entire city. The chipper goes through, but if it's a large pile rather than take the time to do
the entire pile the City sends out what they call a claw which lifts it up and puts it in a
truck and takes it away. If you call the office tomorrow morning he said he will be able to
tell Mr. Urmetz if the chipper has been down the street yet and if the debris has been
added to the claw list.
Charles Dial
27959 Gardenia Drive
Mr. Dial said he wanted to discuss the failure of Issue 50. He said he opposed the issue
because the residents have just been hit with a big tax increase from the reappraisals. He
said to have to pay back 44 million plus interest on a project many feel is excessive, he
hopes the message will be received that while the City needs improvements to the Rec
Center, it doesn't need 44 million dollars' worth. Mr. Dial said he is 99% happy with the
current building and uses it almost daily. If given a choice between using it with some
improvements and spending 44 million dollars to get something glitzy, for him it's a no
brainer that he doesn't want it. He also said on issue 50 he volunteered to help campaign
against it with a politician in town, however, is offer was completely ignored. He said it
wasn't acknowledged and that is plain rude. He said it would be politically smart to say
sorry, we can't use you or send a few words in an e-mail. Mr. Dial said it's a sad state
when people can't type a few words and hit the send button.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2018-89 introduced by Council President Jones on behalf of herself and all of
Council was given its third reading.
