CITY *OF NORTH OLMSTF,D <br />JRDINANCE N0. 82-50 <br />PAGE TWO. <br />E. In computin,g length of service for the purpose of making <br />payments of longevity increments hereinabove set forth, no credit shall <br />be given for part-time service, but such limitation is only for the purnose <br />of computing longevity increments and the exclusion for part-time service <br />shall not deprive any employee of any other benefits which may be due for <br />part time service as employees in the Safety Department. <br />F. In addition to the regular base salary plus increments and other <br />wage increases, all regular employees of the Fire Department, including <br />officers, shall on their original appointment and during the first calendar <br />year of their appointment, receive Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($350.00) <br />clothing allowance, and shall during each calenda.r year thereafter receive <br />a clothing allowance of Three Hundred Seventy-Five Dollars ($375.00). <br />Said allowance shall be controlled by the Chief, however, any employee may <br />purchase regulation clothing and be reimbursed upon presentation of a <br />satisfactory receipt. G. That all full-time employees of the North Olmsted Fire Department <br />excluding secretarial and clerical heln, shall be entitled to certain <br />holidays during the year and shall not be required to work on these holidays <br />unless scheduled to work by the Fire Chief. In the event the employee <br />either works or was not scheduled to work for reasons other than holiday <br />leave on one of the follwoing holidays, then the employee shall receive <br />another day off from work to renlace the holiday he worked, or was not <br />required to work for reasons other than holiday leave. The scheduled <br />holidays are as follows: New Year's Day, Dresident's Day, Memorial Day; <br />Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Day; Veteran's Day; <br />the employee's birthday; and the employee's personal use day. <br />N. That all full-time emnloyees of the Fire Department shall be <br />entitled to an annual vacation in accordance with the following schedule: <br />1 to 5 years inclusive of full-time service - two (2) weeks <br />6 to 11 years inclusive of full-time service - three (3) weeks <br />12 to 19 years inclusive of full-time service - four (4) weeks <br />20 years and over of full-time service - five (5) weeks <br />For the nurpose of a vacation week, a week shall be defined as seven (7) <br />consecutive days off. Al1 vacation time shall be paid at the regular <br />salary rate. If due to scheduling, vacations cannot be taken in the year <br />earned and are accumulated and taken in the next subsequent year, the <br />rate of vacation pay shall be the rate of nay during the ,year taken <br />provided the same is first approved by the Safety Director. <br />1. For the purnose of this Ordinance, the following provisions <br />apply with respect to hours worlced and conditions of employment: <br />1VORK SCHEDULE AND OVERTIME <br />1. The regular work schedule for Fire Prevention personnel <br />shall consist o.f_ five (5) consecutive eight (8) hour <br />days, Monday through Friday. Firefighting platoon <br />nersonnel shall have an average of fifty-six (56) hour <br />duty week consisting of twenty-four (24) hour shi£ts on <br />a three (3) platoon basis. <br />2. Normal hours for emnloyees working a forty (40) hour <br />week shall be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 n.m. These <br />schedules are subject to adjustment by the Chief. <br />3. Any time worked in excess of eiaht (8) hours a day and <br />any time worked in excess of forty (40) hours a week, <br />or in the case of firefighting platoon nersonnel, any <br />time worked in excess of twenty-four (24) hours in a <br />seventy-two (72) hour neriod shall be considered over- <br />time. Al1 employees, except the Chief of the Department, <br />shall be compensated for authorized overtime work at a <br />rate of time and one half of the regular rate of pay <br />calculated by dividing yearly salary by 2080 hours. The <br />Chief will be the determining authority on the necessity <br />f_or overtime. When compensatory time is desired, the <br />employee will determine, subject to the approval of the <br />Chief, when time will be taken. The minimum time to <br />callback shall be for two (2) hours. <br />4. Compensatory time cannot be transferred from one emnloyee <br />to another employee.
