Council Minutes of 2-5-2019
of $1,228,833.66 from Sutphen Corporation, through the State Purchase Program;
and further authorizing the Mayor to execute all documents necessary to
effectuate such purchase, and declaring an emergency. There are many things
wrong with the current ladder truck and it is in dire need of replacing. It is a 1994
truck and has over 9,000 hours on it. The frame, hydraulics, gear box, pump
housing, rear axle and radiator are deteriorating. The current truck has a 75 foot
pierce and the new one would have a 100 foot ladder. The lack of a ladder in the
City would affect our ISO rating and subsequent insurance rates to homeowners
could be negatively affected as well. Just to repair and bring the current truck into
compliance for another year would be an estimated $100,000. The committee
voted 3-0 to recommend to Council.
Councilwoman Williamson Chairwoman of the Building, Zoning and Development
Committee:
The Building, Zoning and Development Committee met on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at
7:01 p.m. Present were committee members Williamson, Limpert and Schumann;
Council members Brossard and Glassburn; Mayor Kennedy, Director of Safety & Service
Glauner, Director of Planning & Development Lieber, the applicant and guests.
• Discussed was CMS 19-13016 JoJo's Smokeless World, located at 24137 Lorain
Road. The proposal consists of a conditional use permit for a vape store. The
applicant proposes to relocate from their existing single -use building to the
Bentley Coe Plaza. Smoking establishments must meet specific conditional use
requirements as identified by our Codes. The proposal does not meet the spacing
and separation requirement between like uses. However, the relocation would
bring the business into greater compliance with the zoning code than they are
now. The committee voted 3-0 to recommend approval of the conditional use
permit with the recommendation City Council waive the specific conditional use
standards and include the conditions recommended by the Planning and Design
Commission.
Councilwoman Williamson made a motion to approve CMS 19-13016 JoJo's Smokeless
World, located at 24137 Lorain Road, with the recommendation to waive the specific
conditional use standards, and include the recommendations by the Planning and Design
Commission. The motion was seconded by Councilman Limpert and passed
unanimously.
Yes: Williamson, Limpert, Schumann, Glassburn, Brossard
No: None
Motion carried. CMS 19-13016 .1o.lo's Smokless World approved 5-0.
Councilman Limpert Chairman of the Streets and Transportation Committee:
The Streets and "Transportation Committee met on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 7:30
p.m. Present were committee members Limpert, Kearney and Glassburn; Council
members Brossard, Hemann and Williamson; Mayor Kennedy, Director of Safety &
Service Glauner, City Engineer DiFranco and guests.
