Council Minutes of 1 1-19-2019
Mr. Pytel said he believes they have been fined for that in the past and that's why he
thinks they are coming down the street now.
Director Gareau said one of the requirements of the car dealers is they must have a
capacity to offload on site. He suggested that the City consider looking to make sure the
car dealers are continuing to follow those site plans and make sure they haven't changed
the parking area.
Mr. Pytel said he thinks they come from Great Northern to Lorain and miss the turn into
the dealership so turn onto the street. He thought perhaps the five ton sign should be
moved onto Lorain Road or the street sign be moved from the pole on the west to the east
side of the street. Drivers have said they didn't know it was residential and one driver has
said the directions say they are supposed to turn down Ranchview.
Councilman Brossard said help is on the way and the City will try to get something done
for the residents soon.
Mr. Pytel asked what he should do. He wanted to know if he should keep taking pictures,
etc.
Councilman Limpert said he will schedule a Streets and Transportation meeting because
it is a street issue and there will be a follow-up meeting on this.
Director Glauner said if you see them on the street, call the police immediately so they
can get there before they get unloaded. He said they are independent truck drivers so
Ganley can't be cited. He said it would be like citing Marc's for produce someone else is
delivering so the police need to get the individual truck driver. He said most of them are
from out of state and they are probably going down Ranchview because the City is
catching them on Lorain Road. He also said it's not just Ganley, but every dealership all
the way down Lorain Road. He also said as far as the weight goes, it is hard to get them
on a weight issue as the City does not have a portable scale and there is no scale in the
vicinity they can be taken to, so it is hard to get them on a weight issue, but as far as
unloading or stopping in the roadway, they will be cited.
Council President Jones said to get his pictures to Councilman Brossard and Council will
work with the administration to setup a meeting and will get the date and time.
Joseph Broz
4385 Ranchview Avenue
Mr. Broz said he wanted to confirm what Mr. Pytel said. He said he has talked to some of
the drivers and two of them have said they have received a map from the dealership
saying to come down on Ranchview and loop around. He said the other reason he is here
is he would like to know the status of the graffiti repair on the lot owned by the City on
the corner of Ranchview and Timber Cove.
Director Glauner said that was turned over to the Building Maintenance Department and
they should be out there this week if the weather cooperates.
7
