Council Minutes of 11-19-2019
Mr. Broz said the police made a report at the end of August and about two weeks ago
after getting tired of looking at the profanity on the sign he wrote the letter that went to
the Service Department and the Mayor's office. He said two days later someone did
remove the profanity on it, but the gas house is still hard to look at.
Director Glauner said he will get someone down to look at the gas house.
Mr. Broz asked if there has been any discussion about the sidewalk repairs on Ranchview
and West Ranchview.
Director Lieber said the sidewalks in the neighborhood present an unique problem. She
said Engineering has discussed having a neighborhood meeting to discuss the problem.
One thought is to potentially move the sidewalks into the resident's property, but still in
the right of way, but the City is aware there will probably be a lot of different opinions
about that in the neighborhood. The City bypassed this area while trying to think of a
good solution, but some more thought is going to need to go into it as it is the only place
like it in North Olmsted.
Mr. Broz said he doesn't mind paying his fair share, but it needs to be done properly. He
said a part of the problem is the street has been paved over so many times that there is no
curve and the plows and semi's are running over the sidewalks. He said it may be
necessary to assess the residents, but he doesn't want to spend his money to continuously
fix something the City's plows are going to keep tearing up.
Director Lieber said she agrees the City doesn't want to spend tax dollars or resident's
own money on something that won't be a long term solution.
Mayor Kennedy said the neighborhood will be involved in the discussion.
LEGISLATION
Ordinance 2019-90 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading. An
Ordinance amending and re-establishing Chapter 167 of the Administrative Code,
entitled "Department of Human Resources" in order to reorganize by removing the
Divisions of Aging and Youth and Family Services from the Department and adding the
Division of Building. Councilman Schumann moved for adoption.
