Council Minutes of 12-17-2019
right where his girls wait for the bus every morning. He said he is out of ideas and
patience. He said he needs Council to help him out or meet him halfway. He said the City
put up signs, which lasted three days because someone apparently complained about
aesthetics. He said apparently aesthetics are worth more than his children's life.
Councilman Limpert said he has talked with Mr. Glauner and he believes he is working
with the City Engineer. Mr. Limpert said he would call Mr. Glauner tomorrow and see if
this can finally be solved.
Mr. Kaufman said he also supports a ban on plastic bags.
David Beuoy
3675 Clague Road
Mr. Beuoy said he wants to express his opposition to the opting out of the ban passed by
the County. He said he wanted to remind everyone what Councilwoman Simon said
which is just like Notre Dame Cathedral is the cathedral that is emblematic of Paris and
France, the National Parks and habitat we have here is what is emblematic of the United
States. He says he does not believe the City should be encouraging use of plastic bags.
John Cotofan
25914 Tallwood Drive
Mr. Cotofan said he has an unique perspective as he is a master recycler of Cuyahoga
County, has spent 11 years in retail and is a father of three. He said North Olmsted has a
chance to be the first city to step up and say we are going to be better. As a retail manger
it's pretty simple for the big box retailers to order something different than plastic bags.
He pointed to Dick's Sporting Goods as an example. He said big box has the fleet and
stock to do this. Mr. Cotofan said some of the smaller retailers have a challenge, but he
thinks the City should be a leader and say it is not going to opt out.
LEGISLATION
Resolution 2019-98 introduced by Mayor Kennedy was given its third reading.
