13. Except at Step I, decisions shall be rendered in v,mling at each step of the <br />Grievance procedure. Each decision shall he transmitted to the Aggrieved Party <br />and his representative, if a►ly. <br />C. A grievance may be filed by any emploiee. \Vhere a group rfcniplolees desire <br />to file a grievance involving a Situation affecting more than one (1) employee in a <br />similar manner. one (1) emplovee selected by such group shall process the <br />grievance. Such gric�ancc shall he defined as a -;roup grievance. The names and <br />signatures ofcach employee, on hehalfof which the grievance is filed. Shall be <br />presented on, or appended to. the grievance I'orm and submitted to the Shift <br />Officer. The grievance procedure outlined in Section 8..3 shall be used throughout. <br />I.). I he preparation and processing of Grievances by employees or the Association <br />may, with the Chief -s or designee's approval. be conducted on duty, providing it <br />does not interfere with the operations of the Fire Department, Grievance hearings <br />may be conducted while on dutN when practical in accordance Nvith the Fire <br />Chief's and/or Safety Directors schedule. <br />E. Nothing contained herein shall he construed as limiting the right of an employee <br />to request having a Grievance discussed informally with the Fire (.`hief or his <br />designee and having said matter inlormally adjusted without: intervention ofthe <br />Association, provided that the adjustment is not inconsistent with the terms of this <br />Agreement. In the event that the Grievance is adjusted without formal <br />determination, pursuant to the procedure. While such adjustment shall be binding <br />upon the Aggrieved Party and the E:mploler, and in all respects be final, said <br />adjustment shall not create a precedent or ruling upon the Employcr or <br />Association in future proceedings, <br />F The Aggrieved party may have Association representation at any step of the <br />Grievance Procedure. <br />G. The time limits provided herein will be strictly adhered to and any Grievance not <br />tiled initially or appealed within the specific time limits Outlined in this Article <br />shall be deemed null and void. Should any of the time limits as specified herein <br />end on any day that City Hall is closed then that time limit shall automatically be <br />extended to the next regular business day. If the Employer tails to reply- within <br />the specified time limits. the (;;rievance shall automatically move on to tire next <br />step. The time limits specified for either party may be extended only by written <br />Mutual a(ueement. <br />11 .This procedure shall not be used for the purpose of adding to, subtracting from, or <br />altering in anv way the provisions of this A -regiment. <br />8.3 All Grievances shall be administered in accordance with the loliowing steps: <br />
