ARTICLE XXIII CONI 012_'b TTY TO LAW 23.1 This Agreement shall be subject to and subordinated to any applicable present and future federal and state laws, and the invalidity of'arryprovisions ofth►s Agree►hent by reason of►� a\ such existing. or future law shall not. affect the validity of the surviving: provisions. 23.2 1f the Enactment of legislation, ora determination by a court of final and competent jurisdiction (whether in a proceeding between the parties or in one not betwcen the parties but controlling by reason ofthe facts) renders any portion ofthis Agreement invalid or unenforceable, such legislation or decision shall not affect the validity ofthe SUI-ViVill<,„> provisions ofthis agreement, which shall remain in full force and effect as if such invalid provision(s) thereof had not been included herein. 23.3 In the event a portion of this Agreement is rendered invalid, as set forth above. upon written notification of either party, the parties shall meet within thirty (30) days to ne�xotiate a lawful alternative. ARTICLE XXIV ASSO)C.11ATION BUSINESS AND MELTINGS 24.1 Not more than five (5) members oi`the Association either elected or appointed by the Association for the purpose of negotiating. with the E►nploycr, shall be allowed time off for all meetings with the Employer. which shall be mutually set by the Emplover and the Association. 24? Fhe t,mployer agrees that the Association shall be permitted to hold meetings at the 11'11-c Ilouse as long as the meetings do not interfere with the regular activities of the Fire Department. Additionally, all Association members shell be allowed to attcrrd all Association meetings provided the Association members remain in service and receive approval of the Fire Chicf', which approval shall not be Unreasonably withheld. 24.3 Such meetings must be approved in advance b\ the Fire Chief and are limited to members of the Association, unless otherkti ise approved by the Fire Chief, which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. 24.4 For the purpose ol'Association business, the E:mplov,er shall acknoN,vledge a C'onip 1-1111e Bank into which members ofthe Association contribute hours. 24.5 The Association shall maintain an address and phone number for its official business separate from City government addresses and phone numbers. The Association shall not use anti Citv government address or phone number for Association or Association related business. 24.6 Employees elected or appointed by the Association to represent the Association may be granted up to four (4) twenty-four (24) hour shifts per year for attendance at regular and special meetings. state and national conferences and/or worker's compensation sern Mars.
