Exhibit A: Chapter 1115 Definitions (Current) <br />BUILDING, ACCESSORY means a detached building whose purpose is related to, but <br />subordinate to, that of the principal building on the same parcel of land. Examples include <br />detached garages, tool sheds and barns. <br />BUILDING CODE means the ordinance(s) adopted by the City that prescribes minimum <br />standards for the construction of buildings within its boundaries. <br />BUILDING COMMISSIONER means the official, or his authorized representative, charged with <br />the administration and enforcement of the building and zoning codes and other ordinances, <br />laws, rules and regulations relating to the use, erection, construction, alteration and repair of <br />any buildings, structures and equipment therefor or the use of the land within the City of North <br />Olmsted. <br />BUILDING HEIGHT means the vertical distance of a building measured from the average <br />elevation of the finished grade at the front of the building to the highest point of a flat roof; to the <br />average height between the eaves and ridge line for a gable, hip or gambrel roof; or to the deck <br />line of mansard roofs. <br />,a <br />vz i <br />{j vz <br />Height _ — 1i Height13 P <br />�p <br />o <br />w-. l <br />Fa <br />Gambrel or Mansard Roof Gable Roof <br />BUILDING LINE means a line, established by Zoning Code requirements, that delineates the <br />boundary at grade beyond which no building or structure may extend. <br />BUILDING, MAIN OR PRINCIPAL means the building occupied by the main use or activity on <br />or intended for the premises, all parts of which building are connected in substantial manner by <br />common walls and continuous roof. <br />BUILDING PERMIT means a permit that the City issues before such activities as construction, <br />substantial rehabilitation or alteration can legally take place. <br />BUILDING UNIT means in any building subdivided into separate units or spaces, any interior <br />space occupying any portion of the ground floor of any building having its own exterior entrance <br />and separated from other such spaces by a party wall or walls. <br />BULB means the source of electric light, to be distinguished from the whole assembly (see <br />"luminaire"). <br />BUSINESS OR TRADE SCHOOL means a specialized instructional establishment that <br />provides on-site training of business, commercial or trade skills, such as accounting, data <br />processing and computer repair or for teaching professional skills such as instrumental music, <br />dancing, barbering, hairdressing or industrial skills. <br />BYLAWS means a set of rules that provide for the organization and ongoing operations of a <br />legal body or entity, such as a homeowner's association. <br />(Ord. 2017-32.
