ARTICLE 15 PAID SICK LEAVE <br />15.01 Sick l..eave may be taken foram of the folio" ins( reasons: <br />(a) Illness or injury to the ernplo\cc. <br />(b) Illness or injrn-y ofa mern her of'the employee^s immediate farniIvas defined in <br />Article 15.02 (d). <br />(c) Nledieal, dental. or optical examination or treatment of'the employee, where the <br />treatment cannot be scheduled during non-workin<a hours. <br />(d) Exposure to contagious disease NN here quarantined by the Board of'[ lealth or <br />communicable to other employees. <br />(e) Pregnancy of the employee, birth of a child. and placement of a child tivith the <br />employee for adoption or foster care. <br />15.02 A full-time employee shall be granted sick leave for reasons outlined in Article 15.01 as <br />follows: <br />(a) Paid sick leave shall be earned and accumulated at the rate of four and six -tenths <br />(4.6) hours for every eighty (S0) hours paid, excluding overtime: <br />(b) l',-ry f(.)r sick leave shall be at the cmplkivee's straight time, hourly rate (or portion <br />thercol' it'absent for less than a full day): <br />(c) if an employee is absent on sick leave for more than three (3) consecutive work <br />days, the Employer shall require the employee to present a physician's report <br />attesting ofthe emplosec's incapacity and that the employee was under the <br />doctor's core and is able to return to �NorL The Employer �yill review the <br />attendance records of employees periodically and at least once in each three (3) <br />month period. Ifthe F_,mployer believes that an employee is developing an <br />attendance problem, the I'Anployer will notitN the employee in writing that <br />medical evidence will he required for absences of three (3) days or less. When an <br />employee's record becomes,,aiislactor%. the requirement for such medical <br />evidence for short term absences will be removed, and the employee will be <br />notified in writing;. <br />(d) Employees may use up to fifteen (15) work days per year of earried and <br />accumulated sick leave if'neccssitated by illness in the employee's Immediate <br />family.
